The one thing that was evident this past Sunday, Cats were all over the place, it was kind of odd to see so many.

This is true. Seemed like at least 60% of the sleds on the trail this weekend were Cats. Odd considering that the dealer network isn't really the greatest for coverage.  There isn't a single Cat dealer in Muskoka. Must be that the Cat faithful actually get out and ride.

Yeah....  just seems so bizarre really!

It makes sense when you think about it.  If the cylinder is in the passenger compartment and the relief valve starts leaking you will smell it way before there is any real danger. In an enclosed car trunk the concentration of gas could easily reach the tipping point before you caught a whiff. If ignited it would be like a bomb going off in the trunk.

You just let me know and I'll be sure to have the woodstove going and Bud lights on ice.  I was thinking about going to look at a bike that's for sale that day, but it can wait.

  4. For the first time in three seasons Snowcrest actually groomed B trail behind my place today. About a month or more off the normal start,  but better late than not at all.

Haha, Yes, blue plate street bike, conversion kit.   Ktm 500 exc for example.

I think a huge amount of kits were sold, and are being ridden this year in Ontario.  I predict a biker will be in the headlines soon.  Hope it's not me.  Haha

I am curious as to what Sean's take will be on this one.

funny though...but I really did and managed to get some actual air time with him....interest guy.

I have occasionally talked with and texted Randy and to a lesser extent Doug. They really are decent people that don't put on any airs.

  7. Things are starting to shape up in Muskoka. If the clubs can get out and groom some of this snow we got this past weekend should see a lot of trails going green. Get out and enjoy it boys, looks like another melt down on it's way starting Family Day weekend.

My wife had laser surgery about 15 years ago.  She was at the point of laser surgery or no drivers license even with glasses.

In the last couple of years she has started wearing glasses again.  But she was an extreme case and had to have it.

My wife had hers done just over a year ago.  Without glasses or contacts she could barely see beyond 2-3ft.  She now has crisp clear distance vison  Close up (reading) did suffer somewhat.  For her, that minor trade off is/was worth it.  Lasik MD in Kingston.  Around the $4500 mark and zero regrets.

Thanks for the replies.  My wife would like to get lasik but is hesitant because she thinks that it wouldn't benefit her due to the strength of her prescription. Part of the reason I am thinking about doing it is to put her mind at ease about the procedure and your wive's experiences validate the results she could expect. Thanks again to both of you.

I'd try phoning Leon at Spruce Shilling camp and ask him

Speaking of Shining Tree, what's the status of Three Bears?  Has anyone been trying to make a go of it after everything went to the dogs?

Now that Christine Elliott, Caroline Mulroney and Rod Phillips are in the race....this is going to get interesting.  If a man wins he is gone in a month after some distressed woman hangs him out.....so either Christine or Caroline.....Christine has Wynnebag luggage and Caroline PM damage.

I believe that Elliott has the stigma of a few failed leadership bids hanging around her neck as well.

she went to i think lasik md in stoney creek.  They had a highly rated doctor.  PRice of course varies by your prescription but it was about 4k total and that included touch ups til 75.  she had a bad eye sight.  she'd recommend to anyone.  I'd get it done if i had the money.

    Thanks. Good info.

my girlfriend got it done in stoney creek a year ago.  she was near sighted and has been great for her.  no touch up yet or anything.  longer waiting to get it done than actually getting it done.

If you don't mind me asking, which place did she go to and roughly what was the cost?

I got my eyes lasered close to 20 years ago in London Ontario (can't remember the name of the company). I was about 45 years old at the time and having trouble reading road signs at night at least that was my excuse. The real reason was that I just couldn't keep my glasses from fogging when riding the sled. Should have done it sooner. My eyesight continues to test 20/20. The only downside is having to use reading glasses (1.25) for the last 12 years or so. Go for it. You will wish you had done it sooner.

The one friend of mine that had it done was into the reading glasses shortly after the lasik. The other guy is 100% all around so far. Right now I can read the smallest of print with zero issues, but I am OK with that ability being diminished somewhat by the laser surgery if that is the trade-off. I think that I will book a consultation and go from there.  Thanks for the input.
