A threatening letter from a group claiming to have destroyed beaches in Muskoka is now under investigation by the OPP.
The letter, allegedly written by a group called the Islamic Revolutionary Force, claims that several beaches were destroyed through the winter with snowmobiles.
“Yes, we have destroyed your beaches over the winter months with snowmobiles, easily and effectively making them unsafe and all but unusable,” the letter reads.
“We started with the Muskokas and other tourist destination.”
The letter claims that northern Ontario towns were an easy target for the group. It also states that more beaches between North Bay and Toronto will be destroyed.
The letter, which was first received by the Huntsville Forester, was then passed along to the towns of Bracebridge and Gravenhurst on Friday. Neither community was specifically named in the letter.
A spokesperson for both towns confirms with CTV News that there doesn’t appear to be damage caused by snowmobiles on any of their beaches.
In late April, broken glass, sewing needles and fishing hooks were found at Bracebridge Bay Park and Kirby’s Beach Park. The beaches were closed for several days, and the OPP was notified.
At this point, there is no correlation between the hazardous materials found in Bracebridge and the letter.
Gravenhurst also found broken glass at one of its beaches last month, and alerted the public about it. However, a spokesperson says finding glass after the spring thaw isn’t unusual, adding that the incident appears to be unrelated.
The rejection of Islam and a following of “the Great Satan” are highlighted as the motives behind the alleged destruction.
The letter also says “the IRF fights against the disgraceful and unjust religious persecution of Muslim Canadians and of Islamic peoples throughout the world.”
The letter has since been handed over to police. An OPP spokesperson tells CTV News that they are taking the threat very seriously and are now investigating.

You could not convince Reevester to join in on the ride...trails look nice!
You up size that flyscreen of yours too....
Just me this time. I'm lucky that my parents live in Sudbury so I can pop in for a visit anytime. For some reason I end up visiting way more in the winter time lol
Should be good for a couple more weeks up there as long as the weather holds up. Riding around, it seems like traffic is way down and there's not much snow in town but once you get on the trails it was great.
I usually keep the taller cross country shield on, makes a huge difference when it's cold out but I threw the old shorty on a for a bit earlier this year. It was pretty mild and I had entered a radar run so I'm sure I went at least half a mile per hour faster with the change!

Company from Ottawa makes a controller for $3500 that will let you swap the electric motor from a wrecked Tesla into whatever you can fit it(and enough batteries) into

Went up to Sudbury this weekend for some "late" season riding. Launched from the STP building in Garson yesterday and today. Rode all over the north end, around and across lake Whanapitei, over through Kukagami out towards Coniston and then back to Skead/Garson.
Overall trails were amazingly good. Some bare spots and rough areas here and there, but most areas are fine as long as you stay to the north.
Saw the groomer out yesterday evening even though trails weren't bad, then it got nice and cold overnight which set the trails up real nice today smooth and fast all over the place.
Pretty sure I'm coming back next weekend...

BTW, anyone around and studded up, some of the guys from Perf Rec and Bracebridge Yamaha as well as myself will be running some sleds on the gun on cooch again this sunday. Weather looks great. Bring some food and some drink. Radar your sled etc.... should be a good time. ( you can park at performance and run down the trail beside the shop and hop right on the lake, head north on the lake for 30 seconds and you will see everyone out having a good time!)
Hey I'm in for this, I'm on a black '14 Eltigre 600 with gripper skis.
What time you guys heading out there? Would be cool if some other brand 600's show up to compare against, I've hit 100mph on the speedo in 1200ish feet before but never put her on a gun. Sounds like fun.
Somebody on here has to be behind this

C'mon, I don't think it's appropriate to joke about serious issues such as this. I suspect we will be hearing about more broken glass incidents before the summer is out.
Don't be a terrorist - drink cans
Lol, I just got a kick out of this non-nonsensical news story at the end of a long day. I had to do a double take and make sure I wasn't logged onto the beaverton 🤣
