    I have had one set of plugs foul at 600 miles and noticed after long hard fast runs of 80-90mph for a few miles when I come to a rest it stays loaded up for a few seconds. I'm still going to have the reflash done because it's supposed to idle and start better.

    2300 miles on now.

    Never had any issues starting, idling or at any times so I’m not going to do the reflash. Have read the SA and it should help for issues like you describe though.

    Post in this thread if you see any other changes after the reflash.

    Thanks

  2. No bog, no starting issues, no fouled plugs...nothing...almost 1700 miles, original plugs, original belt. Fuel mileage is very good, oil consumption is much lower than other 2 strokes. Rear skid is great and front end is still best in the business. 850 is smooth (it has no vibration like other 2 strokes and is smooth like a 4 stroke) great power band without the boat anchor feel of a 4 stroke sled. 200 mile day on twisty trails (not rail lines) feels like nothing with this sled.

    The ECU reflash was not a recall and did not apply to all 850s, mine was not affected.

    The other 850 that occasionally rides with us also has had no issues and has close to 2000 miles on it. Original plugs and belt for him as well. No bog, no starting issues.

    Im sure there may be some turds (they sold a ton of the 850 engine models) but the ones my dealer sold have all been good and any I’ve met on the trail have also had no issues.

    No complaints from me and I’d recommend the Poo 850 engine without hesitation.

    Cool story.....  but incorrect.  Q1 has not been announced yet.  That is Q4 from the previous RY.   Better leave this one to the adults.  lol

    Anyway, good to see Poo turning a profit, after net losses the previous year; competition is good for all.

    Here are the real numbers from last RY (including Q4) for BRP.  Record revenue of 4.5 billion.  Profit of 115 mil even with the new product introductions.  Respectable, but EPS could/should be better.  But $15-$52 in 3 years on Doo-T ain't too bad for us little folk....

    But the real question is...... how are they even making money with all those 850 failures?

    https://globenewswire.com/news-release/2018/03/21/1443397/0/en/BRP-Reports-Fourth-Quarter-and-Record-Fiscal-Year-2018-Results.html

    Highlights for the year vs FY2017:

    • Record revenues of $4,487 million, an 8% increase;
    • Normalized EBITDA[1] of $559 million, an 11% increase;
    • Net income of $275 million resulting in a diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.54, an increase of 12% or $0.27 per share;
    • Normalized net income[1] of $257 million resulting in a normalized diluted EPS[1] of $2.38, an increase of 21% or $0.42 per share;
    • Returned $480M of capital to shareholders through share repurchases and the introduction of a quarterly dividend;
    • Entered the trail SSV segment with the Can-Am Maverick Trail model, introduced a new Sea-Doo PWC platform and expanded the Ski-Doo and Lynx REV Gen4 snowmobile platform to more models;
    • Relocated its North American sales office to Texas to be closer and better connected to the U.S.market, the largest for BRP; and
    • Invested to increase the production capacity of its Juarez 2 and Queretaro manufacturing facilities to meet demand in Year-Round and Seasonal products.

    Highlights for the quarter vs Q4 FY2017:

    • Revenues of $1,263 million for the fourth quarter of FY2018, a 3% decrease, as expected;
    • Net income of $115 million resulting in a diluted EPS of $1.12, a decrease of 16% or $0.10 per share;
    • Normalized diluted EPS[1] of $0.96, a decrease of 4% or $0.04 per share;
    • Announced a quarterly dividend of $0.09 per share, an increase from the $0.08 dividend paid in the previous quarter; and
    • Announced renewal of its normal course issuer bid.

    Yes...and the part I posted is right in the link you posted but you conveniently posted the parts you like...but the results clearly state:

    Revenues from Seasonal Products decreased by $46.2 million, or 9.4%, to $443.3 million for the three-month period ended January 31, 2018, compared with $489.5 million for the corresponding period ended January 31, 2017. The decrease was driven by a lower volume of snowmobiles sold resulting from the late introduction of the REV Gen4 platform last year and from an unfavourable foreign exchange rate variation of $3 million. The decrease was partially offset by a higher volume of PWC sold due to industry growth.

    I think all sled manufacturers took a beating last year which was my point...but you missed it again and took it personal....

  5. Accolades.....good one..

    Still no quotes attributed to me about the accusations you said I made...

    Oh yeah, there weren’t any...

    Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

    Thanks for the bracket..didn’t even know you made it..Poncho brought it up..it’s held up good. DVD player crapped out, threw it away. No idea about the rifle targets? They have my picture on them? Lmao

    Anyways have to get back to enjoying the evening with the wife, daughter and her friend and having an after dinner drink.

    Enjoy your TV dinner in the basement...try not to soil too many Snow Goers later...

    All in good fun...lol

    Yes, you eventually came out of your room.  And you had calmed down somewhat.  The "group" was thankful for that.

    You and Poncho were always fine hosts and cooks. Did I ever complain, or not give you the accolades you're so obviously still seeking?   Hope you had a great dinner!  I'm going dumpster diving later...  I do miss the mischievous rodents up there.

    How about those aluminum brackets I made for your Polaris ..... they still holding up ok?  The Yamaha DVD player and rifle targets still working alright up there?   Lordy..... lol

    No issues with my job at all...... been at the same place for 24 years, changed disciplines a few times.  15 years in Engineering, now at the customer end of things.   You?  Hope all is well.

    Who's not calm?  Oh, right.....  sorry..   Yep, ball busting is all in good fun.

    Hopefully your new sled on order provides some happiness for you!  Still debating on next years' mount.  Might keep the heavy antiquated 1200 another year.....

  6. Just finished dinner...how was yours? steaks on the BBQ. Remember I cooked dinner for you and the entire group of sledders the night I was barricaded in my room as you suggest? Guess I did it from the bedroom as your post suggests.

    I knew you’d respond...lol

    I see you didnt provide any of the  quotes I asked...because I didn’t say anything...but your paranoia got the best of you (like when that mouse stole your meds) and you imagined I had said something. Don’t know why your job would be such an issue with you?

    Anyways...calm down son...we’re just ball busting....right?....it’s all in good fun...

  7. Anger issues...good one..lmao...you are free to ask my wife and daughter, friends and my employer (I’m a pilot for one of the two major airlines in Canada) about my personality. Poncho may not be a good reference as we are brothers and brothers always like to hassle each other..lol...but I’m pretty sure he’d give me a better reference than he’d give you. lmao. Do you have anyone who can vouch for you?

    I never said anything about posting your emails..that was the others..I just said don’t deny the content because we all have copies of the stuff you sent. I like your veiled threats in your post about it being against policy and meeting me in person to discuss it....you are truly a poster child for a forum troll....lmao....What do you have to hide?

    You said: “Shall I post your work details here, as you had started to do with mine?”

    What work details have I posted about you? Put the quotes in your reply please.

    It does become my business when friends don’t reply to your email and tell me “that lunatic Puzzler is emailing me again”

    When will you realize that your fallout with us had nothing to do with anything you posted on FS or about Polaris bashing (ball busting about brands has been around since I can remember) and everything to do with who you are as a person. I don’t think even Dr Phil could straighten you out..lol

    Anyways this could go on forever and not being a regular on FS I’ll let you guys get back to your regular scheduled programming and I’ll go back to lurking as I don’t have time to respond to every Puzzler post.

    I honestly do hope you get the professional help you need.

    Cue the typical Puzzler response....

    Forgot to hit quote...so just cut and pasted Puzzlers post:

    What I e-mail anybody, unless I address it to you, is none of your business.  You should probably worry more about your own anger issues.  Or at least stock up on cottage chairs.  Who denies asking you to not post personal details on FS via a private e-mail?  It's against policy here, but mostly it just shows the type of guy you are, going there in the first place.  I'll happily remind you in person, if you prefer that over e-mail.

    Shall I post your work details here, as you had started to do with mine?  Have your employer evaluate your "issues", perhaps?  No, wouldn't think of it.  As we've all said, FS is a place of entertainment with few rules.  Why you get so bent over it, is vexing to us all.  You really need to chill.

    I know, I posted  hurtful anti-Polaris stuff here.  I have to live with it.  For us, it's all in fun.  But you seem to think I care for some reason?  It is funny though, how butthurt you get when the facts about your behaviour are presented.  Even Poncho thought it was embarrassing.  So as to why you choose to go down that road here, is bizarre.

    No worries, you haven't hijacked a thing.  And hopefully you've learned to cope.  Sorry to see you leaving..... you've unintentionally provided good chuckles for all.

    Safe travels next year on the new sled!

  8. Puzzle

    Truce...I did not know you until you were brought into our group by Poncho. You wore out your welcome with everyone...end of story.

    Please do not email our friends and Ponchos wife anymore and plead your case or send me an email not to disclose certain details about you. (Everyone has kept these emails, so do not deny them)

     I’m done hijacking this thread, I hope you get all your issues sorted out that a few of us on here know about....

    Good luck

  9. Good one Puzzler...you definitely have a vivid imagination...thank God I  haven’t seen you in over a year....but my memories of your last trip, and you standing in the parking lot throwing up all over the place on Sunday morning after the mice stole your medication in the middle of the night, was enough to know I’d had enough of you. Much like the rest of the riding group had already told us they didn’t want you around.

    Anyways, I guess you’ve got to get to work...how is work lately?

    Yes, I was nearly a Polaris convert there..... was trying to get away with the goods.  The sled did handle well, and I said as such.

    However...... you are surprised that a 4-stroke 1200cc Doo sled feels heavier in the front end than a Poo 2-stroke 800?  Even I haven't made that claim.  But I will say, it's not enough to matter, to me, anyway.  I'm on my third 1200, and I think they don't handle much different than an 800.  Slightly heavier, sure.  Hard to cheat physics.

    But I do have a question.  If the archaic ol' Doo front end is no match for the vastly superior Polaris..... why could neither Polaris that day keep the 1200 in sight on twisty trails at elevated velocities?   Or on any other weekend, for that matter..... puzzling.

    Yes, I do recall that  blown used belt, on the used machine that fellow purchased.  I remember a flat battery too.  But I have to blame the owner for those.  I've had pretty good luck with Doos, and have trashed on them pretty hard over the years.  No blown engines.... yet.  This year my fuel gauge was wonky (inaccurate) on a sled I rebuilt, but otherwise it's handled some pretty good abuse without issue.

    Congrats on the 850.  I'm sure it will be a nice sled.  Not a Doo, but nice.  :)

    I also spent some time on 2 different 800 Doos, one had the adjustable skis, both had r motion. The  r motion worked great, the seats were nice, performance good...but both felt like a heavy front end, like the 1200. I messed with the settings but could not get rid of the heavy feeling...especially noticeable when you are in the twisties as compared to the AXYS. Haven’t driven the Perry chassis, perhaps it’s an improvement.

    As for your recollections of that day.....the two times you took off on us, you were driving...wait for it...the XCR! The other time you passed was when we were lined up behind other sleds waiting to cross the road in Pettawawa and you passed everyone on the left and then proceeded into the intersection getting stuck in the middle with oncoming traffic both ways. The guy in front of us stood up with his arms in the air giving us the “wtf is your buddy doing?” gesture...I could only laugh as I didn’t know wtf you were doing either.

    I guess you’ve forgotten about other rides where you got so far behind you couldn’t even see our snow dust and ending up making a wrong turn at an intersection and getting lost...lol.

    We can all ride at asshat velocity when we want regardless of whose sled we are on...just don’t do it as much now as I’m getting older.

    Thanks, looking forward to the XC 850, hopefully it’s close to the hype..I’ll let you try it.....lol...just kidding..... of course I won’t let you near it...

    Rode an R-Motion and an XCR last year back to back.  The XCR is not in the same league.  Maybe the new regular skid will be better.  Sled handled fine, but rode like an old Citroen.   But you're right in that Polaris dealers are telling their customers that Pro-Rides are better.

    Putting a sport logo on a Hyundai, does not make it a Ferrari.

    I happened to be along on that ride....I remember when the owner of the XCR had to pry it out of your hands to get it back as you wouldn’t even get off of it...actually having to put his hands on the handlebars to stop you from starting it up and driving away again as you did after we stopped the first time.....and that night your comments did not reflect what you’ve since said and posted... but whatever...I know what to expect from you.

    I too, drove the r motion and XCR and Pro S that day. Pro S rear and r motion are very similar in my opinion, XCR is stiffer, but was designed and sold as such. The archaic, heavy, darty Doo front end was no match for the Polaris.

    The fit and finish of the Doo is better, but Polaris has made large leaps in that area.

    The biggest difference was the fun factor, the AXYS  chassis is fun to ride where as the Doo felt like a tank.

    Ive owned Polaris’s since 89 (I’m the Poo diehard in my group, not Poncho, who has actually owned more Doos and Cats then Poo) and Polaris 800s since the triple in 99, with a brief break for a 700 in 2007. I put over 5000 miles on each 800 (and 700) I had. I never had any issues, except on my 2002 800 after putting a Legend kit on it...that was my own mistake. The others were left stock with small clutching changes and never let me down.

    During that period I rode with lots of other types in our group and the only catastrophic engine failures happened on 670, 800 and 1200 Doos and 700 Cats. There were other issues with the Polaris’s I rode with including broken clutch springs and drive shaft bearing failures, failed stator, but the Doos also suffered from a clutch nut failure and bearing failures. The only blown belt I’ve seen since around 2000 happened on a Doo. I’m sure other guys have stories of Polaris’s having failures that they rode with...I can only report what I’ve experienced.

    I've snowchecked an XC850...time will tell if it’s good or not, but my experience with Polaris 800s has been very positive. I’m sure the Doo 850 is a nice machine as well, but the main difference for me since 2015 and the introduction of the AXYS has been the Polaris front end and how nicely it handles.

    Must have had over 20 sleds cross our property (which we have allowed the OFSC to use for many years) on closed OFSC trails on Sat...good thing Constable Puzzle wasn’t there...

    Not trailering anywhere...riding sleds from my own property on the OFSC trail

    In any case, 2 trails were closed in the MSR this weekend because of people riding on closed trails.  Yes, private land, and yes, they can do that.

    You completely missed my point....not surprised...

  16. Nowhere when I purchased a trail permit does it say that I required internet and an electronic device to determine if the trails are open. If the gates are not closed and there are not signs posted saying it’s closed..it isn’t.

    The guide is.......a guide

  17. $1600 more than a 2018 XCR 600 and $300 more than a 2018 XCR 800....does it at least have a pull cord in case the Battery dies for that price?

  18. I think the Polaris's ran out of gas....

    If it wasn't the Quebec Police I might have almost believed the Puzzle edit..

    Luckily the private citizens were driving 850s so there was no need for any lighters or fire wood to start a fire after they "swam" through the snow to arrive at the scene...one of the 850s just ignited as per usual....

    Still lots of good sledding this year, next trip is already planned.  :)

    Yep, probably one or two good weekends left...unfortunately I've got this thing called work that will interfere with sledding plans...amazing how you get so much time off, must be nice....

  20. 19 minutes ago, Puzzleboy said:

    Butthurt noted.  Yes, a certain XRS did require top ups.  Previous owner damaged the heat exchanger with a rock, replaced it, and re-used an Oetiker clamp on one of the lines.  But I guess that's Ski-Doo's fault?  In any case, that sled would easily push 200 miles, but it was stock.  My 600 Etec years back, easily exceeded 200.  It's called engineering.  Copying the competition might work for Polaris, but it will not put you at the technological forefront.  But yes, no Polaris rider would claim 200 miles. Nobody has the time to read your lengthy explanation about why you forgot to fill a 2-stroke with oil, but I'm guessing you simply forgot.  It happens.

    Who claims Baja or GM is the leader in sports cars or boat sales..... the only ones who love talking about boats and Vettes..... are you guys!

    Funny, when Polaris was the market leader, you surely claimed they were the best.

    Now that Doo leads the market, the current market leader is the worst?  Makes a lot of sense.

    Just to clarify the alternative facts from the esteemed Mr Puzzler, who may have cracked 300 miles on his sled this year, but far more on his keyboard, I was said Polaris driver looking for oil.

    The weekend before I had completed an over 200 mile trip and we had left sleds on the trailer but filled them with gas (can't remember if we had stopped for gas anywhere on that trip ....I may have gotten 200 miles from 1 tank....just kidding......no one would be delusional enough to claim that type of mileage on any sled...lmao) and I did not top up with oil. Now....we were trailering a week later and I forgot that I hadn't topped up with oil. Upon reaching our launch point I sourced some oil to take with me as we were looking at another 200 mile day. I never used the oil ...still have it. 400 miles and never had to add any.

    I do remember driving with a certain XRS ridden by a belted wonder that required its coolant topped up prior to every trip. Guess that's been forgotten in the vortex.

    Ridden  most of the sleds out there and can say that they all have there pluses and minuses, but whatever you like best is what you buy...whether it's brand loyalty, performance, aesthetics, handling, fuel economy etc ..whatever floats your boat.

    Mr Putzlers claims about market leader means nothing about the quality or performance of the sled...just that they sold more.

    Is Corvette or Baja the market leader in sports cars or boat sales Mr Puzzle?

    Look who just woke up...

    You missed the point of the post entirely, but somehow I'm not surprised...you are in a yellow rage.

    I could go on and on...but why bother??...see ya next year....maybe..lol

    Fifth.... a nice fellow (you might know him) lent me his GSX 1200 to ride, and I really liked it.  On my second now.  Both my Etecs were better on gas, but the 1200 stock is still quite good.  And it runs regular, no oil, less stink, etc.   On the last ride, we had to wait for a Polaris rider (who shall remain nameless) to source oil on the middle of a trail ride.....I am a 2-stroke nut.  dirt bikes, Sea-Doos, street bikes (still have my RZ500s and an NS400R), sleds..... never thought I would ride a 4 stroke snowmobile.

    Judging by the rampant Polaris butthurt in here........ I'm guessing the new fella, Burgers......... rides a Polaris?

    Yes...it does say that on my profile...

    Been riding my 800 since 2015, when new,  and had another 2011 800 (still have it as well) before that. The 2015 Polaris 800 Pro S Rush gets considerably better mileage than my 2011 Polaris 800 Pro R Rush. The newer Polaris 800 engine is much more efficient.

    Ride 1500-2000 miles a year and rode with a guy who had an 800 ETEC and then a 1200 (and it's not Puzzler, but he's also caught in a similar vortex..lol) and I consistently got similar mileage to the 800 but better mileage than the 1200....compared over an extensive time riding together.

    Also haven't blown a belt since 1999, but I did see a guy out on White Lake blow one on an XRS once....
