Reality is in 2015 the HC industry was around $3.2 Trillion.  Of which about 37% was already Medicare/Medicaid.

That leaves a little over $2 Trillion for the rest of us that also are paying for Medicare/Medicaid on top of current HCI. 

Will there be some savings by going to UHC?   Maybe, maybe not.   Lots of valid arguments on both sides and NOBODY still answers what you do with current private ownership in the system.  

One cannot argue that if you cut cost demand will go up.   Medical care reacts to market forces just like anything else.

We are trying to live longer and longer.   We are replacing joints and what not to make quality of life as we age better.   Technology it takes for a longer, better life costs money.   No way around it.

You can have your UHC, just let those that don't want it opt out for private insurance and private care.

I will always have an issue with insurance companies making a profit on peoples health.  The system is rigged.  Insurance companies are virtually guaranteed to make a profit.  They will either deny coverage or increase premiums.  They will always get to decide how much profit is enough.

I think the majority of the members of this forum would welcome some form of UHC where everyone payed based on their level of income.  A tax, similar to how FICA is collected now.
