This could be the beginning of the end for the OFSC. Any kind of investigation of this incident involving a bridge could make the MNRF enforce Engineer Stamped and inspected yearly bridges for all OFSC bridges. Maybe not this time but if someone ever dies in a bridge incident it will happen for sure. We need to keep our fingers crossed we can keep the bridges we have now and keep incidents low key but that won't happen.

Not to mention a M.O.L field day with such incidents like this being broadcast on all avenues of social media.

I have the same gut feeling as you Tim.

I won't pay the extra 10 for delivery.  Canada Post only loses 1 of every 1000 items that are sent to my house. lol

My problem is that it was mailed out in Barrie, I live in Barrie. I believe it goes to Mississauga then comes back to Barrie. I get bills in a day or two sent from T.O. but takes a week or more for stuff sent from Barrie to get to me.

The permits are sent from the Brantford/Paris Ont area from the company contracted by the OFSC to process /distribute them.

Had to be put down Valentines day morning. She had her horse for almost 25 years of his 27 year life.

Oh my. I am very sorry to hear this Gary, I know how much you and Sue loved the horse.

Please send my condolences to Susan for me....

  5. Frozen relays likely. Pull them and warm them up inside.. I assume the battery is fully charged.

The battery could be frozen also, but relays could be the culprit.

  6. Through the snowmobile season all OFSC clubs are required to do a mandatory update twice a week. Usually Tuesdays and Thursdays. If they don't update by those required times the trails will go grey as not reported. They do get penalized for not staying up to date on the risk management aspect of trail status.

All other updates which can be done at anytime are an extra bonus and good communication.

I don't see why the club while in existence as an incorporated entity sell their own asset

Sorry the way I read his first post was dissolving the club and selling everything? Where does that money go?

A club can sell assets which they outright own, but they are still accountable to where the money goes from there if they are dissolving the club.

Is there anybody from the OFSC that might be able to shed some light on this scenario ?

Every year the Incorporated member club of the ofsc is asked if they would like to continue as a member of the ofsc. They sign the agreement and as long as they are members in good standing they have the rights to the benefits that the ofsc provides to the club's. Insurance, trail permits, groomers, grants etc etc.

If they what to remove themselves or can no longer function as a "not for profit" club. They are required under the Not for Profit bylaws to announce 3o days in advance of the club folding. This will allow and club members who under the clubs bylaws to either step up and takeover or the club can now fold.

If the club folds the District or Assocaition now takes over the financial and assets of said club.

You can not sell a incorporated not for profit member club of the ofsc.....

  9. The clubhouse and all assets would be transferred to the district. Even though the club is it's own corporation all It's funding from permit dollars belong to the OFSC...

Tweed closing it's doors was long over due, yes they maintained the trails very well, but that is all.  They would not conform to signage, meetings and guidelines set by the OFSC.  They sold and only attempted to sell very few permits.  Ultimately it was there own demise, few volunteers and did not even try to integrate nor communicate with other clubs.  As for District 3 and allowing this to happen is a slap in the face for the Governor and the ones involved to allow this to happen.

Has District 3 or the OFSC announced what is going to happen?  No and they will not as it is bad publicity.  They will rely on you as the permit holder to only speculate, rely on rumours and hope there will be a trail.  Now with CHSC trails closed at the lake, CHSC has no feasible way to groom those trails.  The District 3 clubs are very territorial, but maybe that has changed now, not likely as these clubs have there old ways and are very limited in volunteers and resources, all by there own doing.

I guess you need to see it for yourself to believe it.

Ken Bertrand is the District 3 Governor and a friend of mine.

Sure it's bad for any club to close, Tweed also had the option to amalgamate with another club. They didnt and optioned out of the OFSC.

Kudos to the clubs from D3 and D1 for stepping up and keeping these trails open for the permit buyers...

I know I sure had a big grin when I got out on the trails around Wasaga and New Lowell. I can only imagine the abuse the club volunteers would have gotten if they didn't get out and work the trails. Also who would have had a crystal ball that would tell them what the future will be.

If you would like to know I can send you our club emails...

I wonder how much grooming dollars were wasted grooming trails for two days....... and how much equipment was fucked up.

I wonder how many permit buyers were happy to get out for a run for the last 2 days?
