  1. Good to see you getting out! bad bad year for central ontario/Muskoka. I haven't even put my sled on the trailer yet, couldn't be bothered to do the rail line in hali or drive all the way to bancroft with how busy it would have been. Next weekend..

Looking at the map i noticed all my local Northumberland Forest trails were shown . There is no snow here so they were the expected red colour. I was surprised to see them on the map thou as i was told  the trails were permanantly closed. Got excited thinking something maybe changed. Emailed OfSC asking if the trails were going to re open and that is why they were showing on the online map. They responded the club controls the trail colour and that i should stay off them if they are red. I also received an advertisement to buy my permit early lol. Makes me wonder how many other non existant trails are now represented on that map. If your buying your permit hoping to see those trails turn green   . Good luck .

Like IRV pointed too, you need to follow the clubs on facebook its the best spot for info,

Northumberland County Forest Reopens to Snowmobiles
During a time when we seem to receive very little good news we are pleased to announce the Great Pine Ridge Snowmobile Association has been able to secure an agreement with Northumberland County which would allow snowmobiling to continue in the Northumberland County Forest for the next 5 years.
We would like to thank the Northumberland County Councilors for Voting to approve the agreement, Northumberland County Staff for their help in drafting the agreement, our club volunteers for the many hours invested to get the agreement signed and most of all we would like to thank all of the Northumberland County residents who took the time to contact their Mayor and/or the County Warden to express their feelings regarding allowing snowmobiles back into the County Forest.
While provisions allow the agreement to continue through to the end of March 2026 there are conditions that have to be met to continue with the agreement. One of the conditions that could possibly jeopardize the agreement is riding off the designated trails. Any Off-Trail Riding is Strictly Forbidden and could cause all authorized trails to be closed to snowmobiling in the Northumberland County Forest.

there are businesses shutdown and will continue to be until the virus stops spreading,  going on vacation is a kick in their balls as far as I am concerned.  How  do you think this variant got here ALL of them?   from travelers

There is no stopping spreading, what don't you get about that... This virus is not going anywhere, the 'vaccination' does not stop anything, there is no evidence its actually going to really stop or help reduce spreading, the world is acting stupid.

QUEBEC CITY -- "The party is over" for drivers in snowmobiles and ATVs, Quebec Transport Minister Francois Bonnardel said on Friday, the day after his bill was tabled to regulate the driving of off-road vehicles.

Training for tourists who rent the machines and for their guides will also become mandatory - following last winter's "horrible tragedy," where five French tourists died in the cold waters of Lac Saint-Jean.

Bonnardel said the reforms proposed by Bill 71 should have been made a long time ago because the safety record is "disastrous."

In 10 years, ATVs and snowmobiles have caused no fewer than 581 deaths and 6,237 hospitalizations. In 60 per cent of fatal crashes, the driver had consumed alcohol.

If Bill 71 is passed, impaired driving will become prohibited. The maximum speed imposed on snowmobilers will be 70 km/h, while it will be 50 km/h for quad drivers.

Also, if someone is riding less than 100 metres from a home, a health establishment, or an area reserved for the practice of cultural, educational, recreational or sports activities, riders will have to slow down to 50 km/h.

"For those who were speeding and consuming alcohol on the trails, well, the party is over today," said the minister.

If adopted, Bill 71 will require that users be no younger than 16 and follow an obligatory training course on how to operate the vehicles. And individuals who allow a minor to use such vehicles without the training course could face a fine of up to $900, while rental companies that commit the same offence could be fined up to $25,000.

A system of fines based on excessive speed would be established, with sanctions increasing every 5 km/h over the obligatory limit, and operating either type of vehicle while impaired would be forbidden.

Driving off-trail on public lands would be illegal unless specifically permitted by authorities.

Property owners near ATV and snowmobile trails would be compelled to accept the inconveniences caused by the use of such vehicles. The proposed law states: “No legal action may be brought against the owner or the lessee of private land which authorizes a club of off-road vehicle users to operate and develop a trail there.”

However, use of the vehicles would be limited between 6 a.m. and midnight unless the trail is located in an isolated and uninhabited area.

Bill 71 also establishes regulations on the maintenance and security standards for the vehicles.

There are about 200,000 snowmobiles and 400,000 ATVs in use in Quebec.

Police are investigating a recent string of snowmobile thefts in Orillia and Ramara Township.

According to the OPP, at least three suspects entered a fenced area at a Harvie Settlement Road business in Orillia last Tuesday (March 24) and stole a covered snowmobile trailer containing two snowmobiles.

“Surveillance footage was obtained and the truck is described as a dark Chevrolet Silverado with dark coloured rims. A red and grey 2015 Skidoo and a yellow 2009 Skidoo MXZ 550 were stolen in this occurrence,” reads a media release.

Around 5:30 a.m. Friday (March 27), thieves drove a truck into a fenced area at a business on West Street South in Orillia and stole another covered trailer containing two snowmobiles.

“Surveillance footage showed three male suspects driving a dark pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet Silverado extended cab with dark coloured rims.  Stolen items include a black 2016 Skidoo 800, a yellow 2000 Skidoo MXZ and a grey 2010 Blazer trailer,” a media release reads.

“Sometime overnight between March 27, 2020 and March 28, 2020, a dark coloured, late model Chevrolet Silverado attended a Township of Ramara residence and stole a 2006 Triton snowmobile trailer containing a silver 2015 Skidoo GSX.”

Police believe that these occurrences, and other recent snowmobile thefts in the region, are related

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
