I have Windows 10 and would sure like some help solving this PIA thing!! Hey Irv, It's likely that one of the updates is corrupted and that is causing the issue. The Windows update cache will need to be cleared. Instructions: Where it says below to open the command prompt, make sure you run it as an administrator. Type "cmd" into the search bar, right click on "command prompt" and click "run as administrator". Click "yes" at the prompt. Quote The first step is to temporarily turn off the Windows Update service (to stop background downloads). Open the Command Prompt, type the net stop wuauserv command and press Enter.Open File Explorer and go to View > Folder Options. Select the Show hidden files, folder, and drives radio button and click on Apply to enable the display of hidden files on your computer. Once done, navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and then delete the content of the Download folder. Note: Delete EVERYTHING in the download folder.Open a new Command prompt window and run the net start wuauserv command to restart the Windows Update service. http://ccm.net/faq/2471-how-to-purge-the-windows-update-cache Then I would reboot the computer and run Windows Update.
