They are likely stopping new items from hitting the market like they did with the drones. I can still buy a DJI drone as long as it was already approved by the FCC.

Same as the drones. Exception being any power station or inverter that’s WiFi or Bluetooth connected will be banned. Which is all of them at this point. This will have an effect on the RV industry and home solar systems. The paranoia of this administration continues.

No, the immediate FCC market block on new foreign models was executed under the Trump administration.[1, 2]

However, policy foundations regarding solar supply chain security built up over several terms. The Biden administration previously signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which barred the U.S. Department of Defense from procuring solar components or inverters manufactured by "foreign entities of concern" (such as China). The broader 2026 FCC ban expands these restrictions past government contracts into the commercial and residential U.S. solar markets. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Correct on the drones. I have no idea about the other stuff. The Biden administration flagged DJI for audit by December of last year. The audit never took place. DJI begged for the audit. They know that the US was one of their biggest markets.

Unfortunately there are no US companies making anything remotely useful for photography or videography.

I've got at least a dozen cameras, couple dozen on off switches at home.

If something is connected to the internet, it's vulnerable.

I'm playing with devices that can use my wifi only.

If the government is going to start banning all that stuff, then they better ban cell phones, laptops, and tablets. Those devices are connected far deeper and have oodles more computing power.

The banning of chinese devices that collect data/locations absolutely started under biden, and its one of the reasons that chinese cars cant be sold here..
