Ours has gona up dramatically. They even increased it by 25% to pay for all the deadbeats who don't pay their bills. So I don't know what that chart is all about regards to CT. I blame Minnesota and the dirty Somalis for everything!

They can’t keep up with increased demand, ie data centers.

this is what I feel has hurt the most at home (wps) and with the rental properties (wec)...

My state is fucked. And indeed, costs are going up to pay for those not paying anything or getting reduced charges made possible by the state. Look at the titles of all those line items. I laughed and laughed when I had them explained to me.

Rates are regulated here but delivery charges are not sooooo you know what goes up.

NG prices have had an effect on electricity prices; both are up here. It is a grid problem add in the data center demand, and the stupidity of canceling wind and other forms of generation doesn't help. The biggest single reason is the grid though.

the only additional usage at home I can attribute any increase to is adding a plug in hybrid to the daily driver fleet with the kiddo being off to school. this stated, I don't think the wife even had to purchase gas in May for it which is a fair offset in the increase.

I fully agree with the deadbeat tax though... total bs

brother in Rhode Island gets an absolute shafting for electricity but they're showing a -7% on the chart. I forget the specifics but believe the state took over the power a couple years ago and his bill nearly doubled. his solar used to bring it down a fraction but not any longer.

Politics aside, I wish I had solar, really despise the fact that I have to rely on someone else for power.

In 2109 i was paying about $80 a month. 2026 im about $100-$120

Just take the approach maga does with skyrocketing gasoline and diesel prices. Don’t think about it and just pay it. It’s for the common good.

the cost for solar entry has greatly increased and the panels are, or were good for 20-25 years last I knew. I'm not opposed to it but the cost/savings math I've done for our house doesn't work out even with our excellent southern exposure. I'd have to cover the roof and entire front of the house.

hot water heater... we have gas

furnace or heat source... we have gas plus a gas fireplace

electric hot water and electric baseboard heat can really rack up the electric bills

6 years ago mine was pushing $200 a month at times, 5 years ago it went to about 10 bucks. Hasn’t changed even after adding a 835 horsey Rivian and the daughter with here plug in 400 horsie SUV drink copious amounts of electricity in that time.

We have electric hot water. Yes, it can rack up the bill. In NH they used to meter the hot water at a separate lower rate. I believe that they have done away with that now and everything goes through one meter.

that is odd, never heard of that before

we have boilers at two of the apartment buildings, which adds up fast but it's also factored into the rents, which will unfortunately get increased in December, again.
