Like Xi said to Trump about America…….”you’re a nation in decline”. One war after another with Zam style chest thumping…..meanwhile China builds.

I wouldn't buy any Chinese motorized anything, much less an automobile. Chinese brush cutter once. Garbage, and a disposable piece.

China would absolutely dominate the US high performance and luxury vehicle segment as well as the cheap/entry vehicle segment. With vehicles like this for $75k US the lineup would be deep and demand o

I saw a BYD pickup looking thing in Texas last week on the side of the road with some kind of smoke or steam rolling out of it.

I'm thinking it either let the magic pixies out or the coolants out.

Frankly I was shocked when I saw BYD on the tailgate in yuge letters.

The only thing China has mastered is how to build cars that burst into flames and kill people.

They are really good at building ones that rust out, break down, and crash on their own too

so kinda like GM, Ford and Chrysler in the 70's and 80's after we'd been producing cars and trucks since the early 1900's?

they'll catch up... just like the Japanese did.

if you want to see quality control for corrosion I'm more than happy to shoot you a few pictures of my ten year old Tahoe with the rocker panels rotting through. I think they're designed and engineered in Michigan, which uses plenty of salt. runs and drives great but is that planned obsolescence?

Not a great comparison. My Audi is quicker than my buddies Gen 1 R1S and is more composed in almost any situation. Modern AWD cars are super composed.

1500 hp $75k SU7 ultra is going to be more contained and composure then a highly modified 1500 hp Nissan GTR.

Same with say a R1S quad at 1000ish hp is going to be more composed and easier to drive vs a hellcat Durango on a pulley, tune and some mods. EV’s just put the power down so much smoother and more predictably then any high powered gas vehicle

why haven't we had a stainless steel car since the Delorean?

ya know, for those of us in the f'ng rust belt... news

jury is still out on how EVs will take all the shit they put on our roads in the winter... cuz if them batteries start corroding it's going to be bad.

And you originally stated 800hp. That was wrong. Much above that and ICE start to be on the hairy edge. You also picked a ridiculous comparison. My car vs your truck and you won't feel the same way. That was the conversation.

I didn't get a super good look at it, but I don't think it had a Mexican plate. Was certainly a surprise to see it.

to my knowledge they aren't legal to be imported or registered inside the US.

Doug and Matt have seen several in SoCal driven up from Mexico. a US manufacturer can rent or buy one in Mexico and drive it around here for up to 30 days I believe, so there's that.

You drive a car thats 10 years old with rust holes? Buy something German. Their corrosion protection is superior to anything American.

remember the corrosion discussion about the skid in one of my sleds?

what's the current tariff on a German car or SUV?

wife's 2012 Venza with similar high mileage... no rust holes or corrosion

very irritating

but BUY AMERICAN!!!!! right @krom ?

love the truck, hate the rust...

I missed the discussion but saw some pics. Do you haul on an open trailer? I've learned to like powder coated skid frames over the years as they hold up better. I used to just coat everything with WD40 or a rust inhibitor back back when I had a sled with an unpainted skid.

Japs do a good job too, and even when they're assembled in the US like much of the German stuff is. For what a modern truck costs, inexcusable.

HP per HP EV’s are much different than a petro powered vehicle of the same. Hard to explain but with a 800+ hp EV suv in the garage the thing is so much more composed when using 800 hp then using the 400ish hp of a mustang GT I had. Same with a Tesla sedan. Using all that hp is much easier and less drama than any other gas AWD sedan or suv in the 400 hp range. You don’t have that connection nor the noise to drown out the limit of the vehicle. Easier to hear and feel in an EV when you are about to exceed the limit of the vehicle. Hard to explain until you been around it

My original quote. 800 hp suv EV comparison was much more composed than a 400+ hp mustang I had owned…. I didn’t compare anything I had to what evah you have modded up. If it’s a sedan of some sort at a 1000 hp it won’t even be remotely as composed as a Tesla plaid or lucid air on the roads. Same would be said for a 1500 hp su7 ultra if we were allowed to have them on our roads. My comment was to crnr2crnr in that context of 1500 hp EV on the roads is not a big deal as they are very composed daily drivers compared to most American sports cars especially if they are modded up to similar power numbers in EV’s.

  • USA Donating Member

My comment was simple as well. You aren't comparing the right shit and have never driven a modern ice awd performance sedan.

X2. EV's have been set back at least ten years now because of the retards pushing them.
