We are starting off in a pretty good winter pattern so far here in northern Vermont. We have had snow covering the ground for about a month now. Not a lot, but snow covered ground. We picked up another 6 inches today.

Trails aren't bad at all, only sketchy areas are fields that got blown thin. Will probably be crap after the weekend unless you ride far north Ft Kent and such. Forcast is looking like good snow in th

Very nice 👍

We even got a little down here. About an inch of slush that I actually shoveled off most of driveway. Not gonna take a chance and expect it to melt. I did that last year and it ended up being a skating rink for about 6 weeks.

10 day forecast is upper 20's to low 30's for a high.....which is quite unusual for this early time of year. Low 40s are normal.

We've been running 5⁰ to 10⁰ below normal.

Very sharp rain/snow line where I live.

5" of snow at work when I left and 15 miles away at home it was only 1".

Didn’t measure it but I’d guess we got at least 6” still coming down pretty good too. Rail beds probably good for a early rip. The best part is it’s actually going to stay cold for the next week.

Hopefully history doesn't repeat with the week leading to Christmas getting warm with downpours. So many season have started this way only to go to shit just before the new year.

Agreed. At least the upcoming cold temps should help the ground, lakes and ponds freeze up a bit.

Awesome! I was looking at my Dad's cams at the Cabin in Norton this morning and was pleasantly surprised .

Even down here in NW CT we got about 5". Enough to rip the Wife's Sled around the yard last night thumb

Just hope to be able to find time to ride this year. Both my daughters are killing me this season with oldest on travel Husky Volleyball and Middle Daughter in Gold Gymnastics. I got a tournament or meet almost every weekend this winter. Oh well at least they are good athletes and enjoy it.

we have had a few decent storms here in NY but it needs to hold off a couple more weeks so we can get trails done

We had another 3 to 4 inches today in the snow showers and snow squall's.

This morning it was 26⁰ at 6AM. That's where it stayed until the front came through between 9AM-10AM. At 3PM we are down to 12⁰ and dropping. The forecast is calling for a low of -9⁰F tomorrow morning. That will be the coldest of the season so far. I wouldn't be surprised if we got down closer to -15⁰F. We'll see.....

I used to love riding to Rangeley from northern New Hampshire. We always tried to hit the border cut through the Kennebago Divide. Beautiful country out there.

We used to top off at Bosevuck before hitting the cut. Fuel tanks were only 6 or 7 gallons back then.

We picked up another 3 to 4 inches overnight when the front came through. The temp has dropped to 2⁰ with a brisk NE wind. It was 6⁰ shortly after sunrise a few hours ago.

The local club plans on opening some trails on opening day. Here in Vermont that is December 16th.

I'm planning a trip over the new years weekend up to caribou, snow permitting.

Looks like more snow for the northern areas later this week...probably rain for us in the lower areas.

We have another 3 to 4 inches in the forecast Wednesday to Thursday and then it's getting cold through the rest of the 10 day forecast.

Chilly start to the day here this morning. 15⁰ colder than the forecast low of -9⁰.

Those are February temps! Ice should be good and thick for opening day at that rate...

We used to go up and stay at a friends house on IP for the February vacation week. One year the high of the week was something like 2 degrees and we saw a low one morning of -34!

Second morning in a row below 0 for me.

IP was mostly frozen over last week. It should be locked in for the year now.

This will be my 13th winter here. My weather station recorded a low of -33⁰ a few years ago. The official low for IP that day was -35⁰ at the airport less than a mile down the road.

The smaller lakes and ponds here have been frozen over for 3 to 4 weeks. Almost everything around here has at least a thin ice covering it. Lake Willoughby is about the only open water now. It's always the last to freeze over do to it's depth and alignment for strong winds funneling through the mountains. It was still wide open this morning on friend's webcam.
