If a pool smells like chlorine its got a lot of pee and sweat in it. Was down at the Ozarks for my Nephews stag and went to one of those pool bars to eat. There were HUNDREDS of people in those pools and hardly anyone getting out to go to the bathroom.

the strong "chlorine" smell in pools is not caused by chlorine alone. It's primarily a result of chlorine reacting with bodily fluids like urine and sweat, forming chloramines. These chloramines, not the chlorine itself, are responsible for the irritating odor and can cause eye and respiratory irritation,

Stick your nose in a container of chlorine and tell me it doesn't burn when you inhale. Then piss in it and see if the smell changes. lol

Dude this isn't rocket science or theory.....its fact....ask any pool person. Many examples of people doing their own test in buckets proving it as well.

I challenge you to find any links that prove otherwise.

An actual pool chem website.

https://bioguard.com.au/solutions/why-you-should-never-smell-chlorine-in-your-pool/

You probably think what youโ€™re smelling is a large dose of chlorine. But in fact, this odour points to the opposite!ย

What youโ€™re smelling is actually something called chloramine. Never heard of it? Chloramine is the byproduct thatโ€™s produced when the chlorine in the pool water combines with swimmerโ€™s waste (body oils, skin flakes, etc.) and other contaminants. Itโ€™s this chemical compound that gives off the strong odour and can cause irritation to swimmerโ€™s eyes and skin. Plus, it reduces the free chlorine in the water (the chemical that works to disinfect the water) โ€“ meaning thereโ€™s a risk of it becoming unsafe for swimmers.ย

So, if a strong odour is emanating from a pool, itโ€™s likely that thereโ€™s a problem in the water and it requires further treatment to ensure proper sanitation!ย
