My son is currently living in the confines of Hennepin County (as some others here do) and he got called to show up today… I thought they reimbursed you mileage/parking but you gotta pay to show up!

Mr CEO should have been able to get out of it if he really was important.

I guess not.

Got a summons on my birthday. Couple months ago. I called night before and was not needed. What a birthday gift.

Doing your civic duty, and they stiff you for parking. Why am I not surprised. Although, this is the People's Socialist Republic of Minnesota, so I guess it's normal.

I was called to serve on a case involving a cop that I knew. This case was supposed to be quite long and I would have missed several weeks of work. Yeah , they would have paid me for 8 hours per day but I was getting buco OT and would have actually lost a lot of money.

During the jury selection, I told them I had been pulled over a couple times by this cop (true) and that I could not be unbiased. I was Dismissed immediately. 😂

Yeah...I know several people that ignore the jury duty notices and have never had a problem.

I always got nervous from the wording and responded. Actually now that I'm retired , I wouldn't mind being chosen to be on a case.

My old coworker used to love being called and not working. He called it the Golden ticket.

i was all for it. i just at the time was getting an astounding amount of junk, and it was in between. i finally refused to empty the box . they would jam adds in sideways , catalogs , all kinds of junk . they got the hint and i started getting just my shit. well, my neighbors and others down the road , but not junk

I served on JD many years ago, they were no parking fees and I got paid for serving, I really liked it, found it very interesting and while on an elevator with one of the judges I asked how I could serve more time but was told that's not how folks are chosen so was not called back ever again.

Only Fools open and read junk mail....

If you're dumb enough to go.....ask who's paying the best ....nod and winks at lawyers looking for $$$$$.

Some Podunk counties have a schedule of how they split the corruption $$$$.

Just telling them (jury selection) you don't want to be there will get you rejected..

As they are the low paying client, I'm not so I inclined to have them on my calendar...

If the courts are NOT going to issue a bench arrest for you not being there, who cares!
