Long Lake could inherit more than $100 million from the pending sale of the Whitney estate. Locals hope the money is invested and well-managed.

hadn't heard of this place before tbh but the 36k acres and old $ aspect caught my ear.

have been to two of the Vanderbilt properties over the years. Biltmore Estate in NC is amazing and the Breakers in Rhode Island isn't too shabby either.

any MTN biking or sledding around there or in Whitney Park?

long lake has a nice trail system connected to the rest of ny state. mtb sadly was ejected many years ago , likely by folks that don't ride shit and listened to the tree huggers. you know, us mtb guys eroding the world. they tried to eject us from the catskills where i live but this time it was in the open and met strong opposition.

The Adirondack park is run by NYC liberals. They want it to be a retreat for the rich, and are doing everything they can to rid it of the locals.

they are successful. my friend was born in indian lake. a nyc real estate agent moved there, called all her city friends to buy it all. before that you could buy a camp for 40k. taxes 800 a year. they bought it all, and did the usual. so now my friend Don had to move 45 minutes away to another region. that too will get over run . they taxed him out of his house where they lived for generations

I hunt the Adirondack park, it’s an ecological wasteland in the name of “conservation” but sure a developer can buy this estate and put a zillion houses up.
