Still White now.Are you saying the ground is white or it's plant material?There are various types of lime used in our area. The color would not be described as white IMHO. The two main versions we use are light gray (beet plants) or light tan color (mined). It's entirely possible they did apply lime that is more white in color. I don't know where farmers in your area would source lime. After weathering it does become lighter if left on top of the ground.Lime application is typically done in fall so it can be worked in and lessen crop damage. I guess it could also be done on no till ground and remain on top. I've never seen that method. We really don't have no till farms in our area. Those that do exist probably don't spend money on lime. The return on lime expenses is not immediate. It takes 2-3 years before yields show the best results. Land in our area is too expensive to do no till and slow return investments. Application isn't cheap. We typically apply based on prescription to save costs but that requires grid sampling beforehand.

We typically apply based on prescription to save costs but that requires grid sampling beforehand.I can't get real close to it without trespassing so don't know if there's any plant material, but the whole plot is white since last Fall, looks like someone painted the ground white..I might be able to zoom in some pictures this Tuesday as we will be riding the trail nearby.

From Maps, I'd guess it has been lime'd or had a liquid lime or some sort applied.
