So I'm not sure the Catalyst really needs power steering, however one potential advantage is the bar turn vs ski turn ratio. Langaas stated with the new EPS calibration, a 37 degree turn at the bars will now be akin to 62 degree turn. That's a whole lot less arm movement for the same turning radius.

Referring to my previous post, I think this could be the biggest possible advantage. Right now the ratio steering on the Catalyst makes for a very light bar feel, but it's also the opposite of the EPS being described above. You have a mechanical advantage, so you actually turn the bars more with less movement at the ski. The EPS sounds like the exact opposite, yet still very light steering.

regardless of muttstang's assertions... I can see a distinct advantage of EPS on 4S, 2S &4S grand touring and utility sleds, especially at low speeds to maneuver. luxury model sleds as well... for those who require a heated seat, 26" screen and electric start... you know, enthusiasts!!!

LOL...I'll make an unsolicited opinion...This new regurgitated group of misfits running the NEW Cat Corp, will prove eventually they are no better than the previous pre 2017 group that sent Cat on the downward spiral they are still in today...WTF...NO new website yet...LAUGHABLE

Truly amazed we have the upcoming C-Suite for Arctic Cat on this very site!

I'll round up a contact for Brad and be sure to let him know.

why'd he try the XCS's when they tell you that up front?

have RZ's on both SP's, XT's on the RXC. the RXC steers very heavy compared to the SP's. @Not greg b ran Mohawk's this winter so he can probably give you some feedback.

There's also this...

The canoe paddles steer very light compared to any c and a on a procross. I would say they are similar to the rzrs on the sp500 for steering effort if not less. It’s been a while since I have been on a sp500. The big thing with power steering is not the steering effort it’s the feed back. I was riding my cousin’s big tired can am gade 1000 xrs atv with his girlfriend on the back while he was running my ltz-400 like a stolen rental. We caught something with the xrs tank with the power steering and had no idea we destroyed on the front end and never felt it. I am predicting the catalyst with eps and those skis, their is going to be a lot of broken suspension parts. people will ride faster than they usually do because they won’t get the feed back from trail chatter like you will with a non a power steering atv or snowmobile.

I will add I ran razors since 2010 before switching to slp Mohawks on my catalyst. The Mohawks are a better all around deep snow/trail ski. The c and an are a better ski for straight up hauling ass on a groomed trail over the Mohawk when running skid destroying speeds. I may try c and a xcs as I can get them for free. Not really interested in the xpt as they are rzr like and the going to the wider width the last 2 seasons has worked well for what I do.

again on the website topic not to beat a dead horse... on the Arctic Insider article it says PRE-ORDER YOUR 2026 ARCTIC CAT BEFORE MAY 16TH

sooooo... are people just supposed to wander into their local (lol) dealership and talk to the salesman? seems to me we live in a tech driven world and unless I've completely missed it I haven't seen or read squat from the new ownership since the initial barrage of 'we bought it' and 'here's what's coming for 26' information. no website, no details...

trying to remain positive but...

Maybe it's just me, when I buy a new sled I go to the dealership. ashamed

on country cat's site they have the 26's and it appears you can get a 600 RXC with $17k or without $16,6k electric start. 858 RXC $18,5k. all with sport gauge. if people want the G8???

My dealer says it's a dealer installed option, roughly $100 for labor and $1100-$1300 for the g8 depending what model you get. An 858 rxc with the g8 installed was right about $20k

I can understand why fantasy buyers are frustrated by the lack of tech driven information for them to analyze and critique. That's got to be tough.

ouch... probably a good thing it's not a required option. 7S on the XCR is $1200 as an option on their builder so that seems in line.

Looking at the models themselves on the prices sheets circulating around, it appears that the only ZR 600 that will come with the G8 from the factory will be the ATAC model. The SP and R-XC will be just like we had to do this year...buy the gauge "kit" and do the install. However, the 858 Sno Pro (but not the R-XC) can be factory ordered with the G8... retail difference is $1400.......

unless actual Cross Country is dead in favor of lake racing... dunno

My dad had two of those el Tigres back in the day when they were new. One them he put twin pipes on. We found one them at a swap meet in the late 90s. He knew it was his from the giant holes he drilled in the hood to mount a compass back then.

Unlike the proprietary pidd can you move the G8 from one sled to another without having your odometer follow?

I believe the G8 is still the mileage storage where the ecm just holds hours.

Yes, the G8 can obviously move from sled to sled. The hours are stored in the ECM.... However the milage is NOT actually recorded & stored on the gauge itself. It is stored on one of the supporting modules that make the "kit" work. So moving the G8 "KIT" to a new vehicle, the G8 would display whatever miles it previously accumulated. There is a way to have the gauge start back at zero.....but it requires purchasing the module that storages the milage. I believe it was a couple hundred bucks when I looked into it in the past.

Both companies are bastards. Mileage should be locked to the machine and the reset easier. Making money on that accessory pushes the border of dishonesty on mileage.
