The time has finally come to replace my trusty single place for something bigger for next season. I want something that can squeeze 3 sleds but is also small/lighter and have brakes. I was originally thinking a hybrid 101x14 or 16 but after researching a bit maybe an inline 7 or 7.5x14 or 16. I’ll be towing it with a taco so I don’t want anything huge. What would you guys look for?

Inline for sure.,..as for what size that depends on what you have for sleds and how much dicking around you will do when loading.

Yup the more I research on it the more I think the in-line is the way to go. A narrow trailer should be a lot easier to see around with a taco and tows nicer it seems. I like the drive in/out too. 3-120s for now maybe a 137 for me down the road. From what I found they should fit a 7.5x14 with v driving in from the front with limited dicking around so probably gonna keep an eye out for that.

They are super easy to flip if you buy used and change your mind on size. Bigger is always easier to load....

I have a Triton 101 x 12 ft enclosed and couple friends have in-line trailers. The inline trailers do pull better.

The reason I got a 12 ft trailer as I've owned Assaults in the past so if I do get another Assault I won't have an issue with length. Just keep that in mind with the length of sleds you my be buying in the future.

Makes sense something to consider. I just don’t want something to big for the truck and end up needing a bigger truck cause I have zero interest in owning a truck bigger than what I got.

Buy one on 18" or less stringer spacing, not 24" stringer spacing to save weight.

Look at the quality of welds, construction, etc. If they half-assed it in a few spots, they probably half-assed the whole thing.

Brands I would consider - Featherlite (have), ATC, Intech, Triton, Aluma, ALCOM brands (Stealth, EZ-Hauler (have), Mission, etc).

Triton was a good quality trailer but Alcom has now closed them permanently.

Ez hauler was one of the ones I was looking at online at a local place. They seem reasonably priced. By stringers do you mean the floor joists? I see some say 16”oc walls but the floors saying 24” oc. I’m assuming the reason to look for 16oc is it’s more sturdy? Some of the welds just from looking at pictures look pretty bad on some of the trailers haha.

Yes, stringers/floor joists on 16" or 18" centers. Ideally walls the same.

Sturdier is the main reason. Some friends bought one built on 24" and after the first year or two, their floor was sagging in spots and you could see it wrinkle goofy in the wind. It would literally sound flimsy when you'd drop that rear door to load it when it was windy.

I'd question 3 in a 7X14. It'd depend how much of the V you can use. I have a 8.5x14 and can fit 3 but they can't all be the same direction.

I saw it on a local trailer manufacturers site so I went and googled it and found some old posts of people who have done it. Some loaded them all the same direction some had them front to back either way they fit. I think with the 7.5x14 with 4.5 v I should be able to drive them all in from the front door same direction. I’ll probably measure it on the ground this weekend to confirm.

Here’s their info they have online the 714 is 7x14 and the 9014 is their 7.5x14

If you're planning to do it on a somewhat regular basis I'd do at least 16'. You're already paying a chunk of $ either way, I'd rather not struggle bus it every time. If you're paying the money I'd want it to be ideal. Just having to back sleds up onto a trailer is usually some fuckery between tracks spinning, carbides snagging, belts burning. Not ideal. And that's if you have reverse lol

Yep. Towing the extra couple feet isn't really noticeable either.

I hear ya the extra length really isn’t much of a cost difference and definitely worth it. My big hesitation with going bigger is it being overly big and throwing the truck around. Ideally an inline 18 with v would be perfect for 3 but it’s 22ft long that’s a pretty damn big trailer for a tacoma. Maybe reconsider the hybrid deal 101x16 short and light just cant see around it easy.

Meh. I would worry about the length. Our teeny Audi Q7 does a million times better towing my 23' wake board boat that my Silverado or Escalade did. If you are smart on weight and setup it'll be no problem.

I know inline guys like them. But I don't mind the 8' wide trailers. If they're shorter I can get them in and out of placed easier and get them turned around at my house easier etc. Backing up is a little trickier but I'm pretty used to it. Not a huge fan of that hybrids style, they are not only wide but tall and I think you'd feel that sail behind you.

Not sure what your budget is but I went with a ProLine. They are NH based family owned and made to order. Top notch customer service and exceptionally well built. I went with the 7.5 inline in the event I end up with a SXS it will still fit.

How do you like the 7.5 inline? What length do you have? That’s I think my top choice now is the 7.5 inline leaning towards the 14ft but possibly bigger 16?. I’ve looked at proline that’s where that chart came from I posted above. They’re quite a bit more than some of the other brands I’ve been looking around at(stealth and ez hauler)for the same size like 3k more for 7.5x14vnose. I get the proline is probably maybe better built than those though. Everyone seems to have good things to say about proline. Originally was looking for used but they seem to go for basically as much as new does so might just go new now. I don’t need it until next season so just poking around at this point looking for a steal of a deal.

Like others have said pay attention to the frame structure of some of these trailers.

Triton which is no longer in business had an XT and Elite series snowmobile trailer. The XT had less structure with the main beams only attaching to the 2 center crossmembers and axle, widers spacing between crossmembers and the bed only having 1/2 Plywood bed. The Elite which obviously cost more the main beams run the full length front to back. The crossmembers are spaced tighter together and 5/8 marine Plywood.

It’s definitely going to be something I look for seems a lot of them conveniently don’t list the floor spacing in their specs even proline doesn’t list it that I can find anyways. They’ll list the walls at 16” oc though. Oddly the cargo trailers and car haulers seem to list floor spacing on all the specs.

I love it! Mine is the 7.5 wide with the taller ceiling. The box is 20 ft with a 5' v nose and front door. I can fit 4 137 sleds in it if I stagger them. They are more money then most depending on how you option them but once you start looking at build quality you will see why.

Very nice older trailer ....that Tacoma will need a big Turbo and alot of steroids... 😂

No trailer yet the ole bill fold took a big hit last couple months so I kinda stopped looking for the time being. Doubt I’m getting what I wanted at this point but hopefully can get something before snow starts flying can’t tow multiple sleds with the single I got.
