Co-worker and his wife got run over last night on their bicycles in town. Non-insured, non-citizen Spanish speaking man with no drivers license or any identification, driving someone else’s car (haven’t heard the details of that yet). Cops told them there’s nothing they can do, all expenses are on them. $6000 in bikes totaled, he has a broken wrist, she has broken teeth, a torn MCL in one knee, and all bruised up.

Just stupid. I would think they could go after the owner of the vehicle? Don’t even know if it had current registration at this point.

What a shit show .. sorry to hear that happen. Uninsured motorists are ridiculous (we've had to deal with that one time, too) ... MF'ers should have the car impounded and spend some time in the clink if they can't pay for the victims' bills.

So much trash has been willingly let into this country the last 4 years. Relieved to see this was a priority of the current admin.

Had a guy crash into my truck on the road in front of Menards, he came from a business across the road from the left,  I saw him just at the last moment and I swerved hard to the right & sped up and he hit my rear bumper, if I hadn't swerved he would have crashed into the side on the truck..he did not want me to call the cops and I followed him to his bank where he gave me $500 for the bumper which is on-order now.

Huh, turns out the guy has been working for one of the local farms just outside of town (shocker) and the vehicle hasn’t been registered to be on the road since 2021… probably shouldn’t have let the guy take that vehicle.

If someone let him take it, it's on them. If he took it without permission, that's theft. Hard to get blood from a stone.

Do you guys not have "uninsured auto" coverage there?

If that were to happen to me, my insurance company would cover my loss.
