WTF is going on up there? 

Makes sense to me when you consider the rate of people who die from terminal illnesses. The US needs to legalize assisted suicide nationwide.

I agree.  We wouldn’t  let our animals suffer the way we let our love ones do.

My grandmother at 99 was and in nursing home, had 3 strokes in the last 2 years of her life, she just wanted to go to sleep and not wake up. Her 7 brothers and sisters were gone, 2 of her own kids gone, 2 grandkids gone. One day we get a call the nursing home is putting Gram on suicide watch after the doctor talked to her. She was pointing at the tv and telling the doctor that's my guy get him in here and let me go, it was Dr. Kevorkian the suicide Dr...  She's 99, can't feed herself, go to the bathroom, shower, change her clothes, she pretty much can't do anything herself she just wants to go to sleep and not wake up she did not want to live like that. She passed away a couple weeks after that and passed in her sleep just like she wanted. She told us when she passes to cremate her and put her in the cemetery with her husband, no funeral service, no flowers no nothing.

If you couldn't  take the time to come see me when I was alive and bring me flowers don't come see me when I'm dead because I can't talk to you or enjoy the flowers you brought for me. Gram and her husband purchased their headstone from Sears it already had their birth years on the stone, we had to have someone change the stone for grams side.... 1910 - 19.. to 1910 - 2010, she kind of out lived her headstone.

terminal illness is one thing, but they were trying to get it passed just for mentally ill and also heard it was talked about teens doing it without consent from parents.

pretty fucking satanic if you ask me.

My Grandmother lived a great life . She had a lot of friends, was very social, golfed everyday well into her 80’s. She spent the last year of her life in the same condition as yours.  My aunt put her life on hold to be a 24 hour caregiver.  Very admirable, but my Grandma would of never wanted that. 
obviously it should be our decision and not the government.  I have made it very clear to my wife and kids .  I don’t  want that for me or you.

It’s basically the last days of the Roman Empire. 

Darcy was my best friend for 55 years. We started Kindergarten together and stayed friend our entire lives. 

In July of last year, at 60, he had a stroke which left him completely paralyzed down his right side. He spent a month in bed in a hospital. He could talk but he had a hard time finding words. His left side worked but his left hand would move involuntarily and shake at times. After a bunch of tests, they told him the damage was permanent. He would be transferred to a nursing home. He said "fuck that". He applied for MAID. Within a week he was gone.

I'm glad he had the right to make his choice.

My ex-wife was telling me last summer that her uncle had applied to MAID because he had suffered with depression for his entire life and he wanted it end. He was denied. He took a bunch of drugs and died a couple months later. Oddly, he had a older brother who committed suicide about 20 years ago. He used a shotgun. Depression there as well.

 

My mother is 88. Still living alone in her house, still tends to her gardens, still driving and in good health. She hopes to pass in her sleep like most of us do. But she is thankful that MAID is available if things turn bad.

call me old fashioned, i think when people are in a dark place you offer support to help them climb out of it, not agree and jam a lethal injection in there arm.

abortions are great.maid for all. clean needles for junkies.

My mother died of cancer. Suicide never crossed her mind. She died with dignity. What I’ve seen of Canada lately indicates a loss of freedom. Having bank accounts robbed for refusing a shot and protesting? Sorry, your moral high ground collapsed long ago.
