Meanwhile America has been fucking up other countries with its military over the last 20 years. Is it any wonder why China has a much better reputation around the world. So what does Trump do? Threaten Greenland and Panama with military force. This country will never learn. Just pathetic. 1 Quote
Gold Donating Member J. Jackson Posted January 9 Gold Donating Member Posted January 9 Do you not see a problem with the Chinese having control of the canal? If Russia was that close to us in the Cold War era we wouldn't be tapping the keyboard today. If we didn't have military bases around the world do you think life as we know it would be the same? Economic yes. 1 day ago GOP lawmakers have thoughts on Trump's plans for world dominance Robbie Gramer 01/08/2025, 12:09pm ET The Republican-led House Foreign Affairs Committee is honing its message on President-elect Donald Trump’s statements on Greenland and global American expansion — stressing that the panel is very much in his camp. On Wednesday the committee published — and then deleted — a post on X plugging on Wednesday Trump’s musings about acquiring Greenland and the Panama Canal and renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. “Our country was built by warriors and explorers. We tamed the West, won two World Wars, and were the first to plant our flag on the moon. President Trump has the biggest dreams for America and it’s un-American to be afraid of big dreams,” the committee account wrote, accompanying a screenshot of a New York Post cover titled “The Donroe Doctrine.” The committee said the deletion was far from an effort to dial back. It re-posted the graphic after altering the New York Post cover to say “The Trump Doctrine” and saying “This was taken down because we wanted to fix the graphic to reflect that President Trump’s America First vision is worthy of being called by its own doctrine.” Trump contemplates taking Canada, Greenland and the Panama Canal Share Play Mute Current Time 0:01 / Duration 1:00 Loaded: 65.47% 1x Playback Rate Fullscreen The provocative social media posts could preview how HFAC, historically a bastion of bipartisan cooperation, is slated to become much more MAGA-fied under its new chair, Florida Rep. Brian Mast, a major supporter of Trump. Democrats on the committee worry that Mast’s takeover of the committee will derail that bipartisanship. Trump has drawn fire over his repeated push to acquire Greenland from NATO ally Denmark and the Panama Canal from the central American country, as well as his jabs at Canada in which he has called it the 51st state. “It’s bananas. It’s insane,” Democratic Representative Jim Himes told CNN after Trump in a press conference on Tuesday refused to rule out using military or economic coercion to acquire Greenland. Quote

No. What he did do is start a dialogue about the two areas. Which is needed. As polar ice shrinks Greenland will be an essential safe harbor for America. There’s a massive amount of abandoned US military equipment in northern Greenland. Relics of the Cold War. Quote

Taliban/Afghanistan is seeing a lot of Chinese investment as they have started some rather large mining projects as a team. US is kind of screwed as we are stuck in our old ways which use to be successful but no longer works in a modern world. Quote

Canadian Donating Member Voodoo Posted January 11 Canadian Donating Member Posted January 11 Have either party involved ascertained the value of the Panama Canal? We have a highway in Ontario, our Fraud is thinking about buying back. The actual numbers have never been out in the open, and the more it's discussed the higher that number will actually be. Single, very interested party, for something that is one of one. Flapping your gums about how much you want and need said item hardly seems that art of the deal. Quote

There’s also the issue of maintenance of the canal. The Chinese began funneling money into the area for upgrade of several ports. Where was the American tax dollar to help out? Funding wars. Not a lot of people know this, but the canal functions not because of ocean water. It depends on a large fresh water lake. That lake is drying up. That’s created a slow down of shipping and increased costs. there’s a real possibility that the canal may cease to function in the near future due to weather pattern changes. Mexicos new logistics corridor will be in direct completion with the canal when completed. Quote
