Many times when I'm away from home and want to use my phone and don't have a password, how can I get to use anothers wifi, like Walmart or Menards to look up things..I'm not very good at this but I've been told there's someway to do it..help please.

Just look at your WiFi settings like you're at home & it will show you the various options to connect to as the WiFi.  As @EvilBird said, you'll see some sort of "Guest" WiFi to connect to, which won't require a password.  It may send you to a website though, on your phone's browser, to agree to the T's and C's for it to officially connect.

Ok, just tried that and there's nothing like that in the Wifi settings.

It just shows my Wifi and several that need a password to connect.

Also says "Add Network"

Could it be called "mobile Hotspot"?

You have to be wherever it is you're looking to get on their WiFi.  Like, Walmart or Menards, or wherever it is you're shopping.  Their WiFi will automatically pop up.  I bet Louie's has WiFi in the bar .. walk over there and look & I bet you'll see some sort of Louie's Landing WiFi or Guest WiFi show up.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow and let you know it that works.

Now that I think about that, I did try Louie's and all that happened was it showed Louie's alright but had a padlock on the Wifi and asked for a Password when I tried to use it.

Yeah, if you see a lock icon it's a secured WiFi (requires a password).  A lot of places have a public WiFi and they'll post the password on a sign somewhere (like by the bar, or bathrooms, etc.)  Once you realize how simple it is, you'll probably shake your head.

I know there's a way around the password, I just can't figure it out.

At KwikTrip the other day there was a couple using their Wifi and I asked the guy how he did it, he said it was simple but didn't have time to explain it to me, I asked a girl we know who works there what the password was and she said she doesn't know it.

Was the couple using the quick trips wifi or their cell plans data? 

No easy way I've ever heard of to get around a password.

Don't know as they were just sitting across from us having lunch like we were.

You often need to connect to the one of the available hotspots and it will direct you to a guest login. Like at a hotel, dometimes you connect to the hotels wifi and when you open you browser to search it directs you to the hotels login page. Just an added step.

No, mobile hotspots is when your own phone is being used to pro ide the wifi. You want to look for wifi networks.

If i set my phone to be a mobile hotspot others that I allow can use my data connection to go online. 

I know you need either

A. Unsecured wifi, no need for password.

B. Secured wifi, you'll need a password. Establishment usually display it or you have to ask for password.

C. You don't use wifi but you use your data.

I know at Walmart here it says guest but also says "not secure" but still need their password.

Whenever I'm away from my Wi-Fi....It automatically connects and uses data.  I don't think it costs very much for that type of plan but I'm about as computer/phone savvy as 1250

They do open..I will try those tomorrow when I'm more into it, wife's got TV on and it's a bit hard to concentrate..LOL

Why bother?  If you don't have unlimited Internet for free on your phone...change your service.  Perhaps you have another reason but let's start with that first.

ok first... a hotspot is simply a source of wifi data. The term is most often used when you use your phone as the source of the wifi. For instance you may turn on your phone's hotspot for someone else to connect to. Turning on your own phone's hotspot for you to connect to is pointless as the data must come from your phone to begin with. If you want to use someone elses's wifi you need to connect to their "hotspot" or "wifi", same thing. To do that you go to the very top of the screen and pull down exposing the drop down menu, that menu should have the wifi icon, bluetooth icon and a few others. It should look like this...

Press and hold the wifi icon, the red arrow, and then a menu will come up showing the available wifi networks. Find the one you want (you may need to ask management for the proper wifi network name) and then connect. Sometimes when you connect it will ask for a password immediately, enter it if you know it. If not, ask management for it, then enter it. If it doesn't ask you to enter a password and instead just says "connected" then open your web browser and do a search for something. If the web browser redirects you to a login in page..FIRST make sure its legit and then if it is login as requested. They usually only ask you click on some agreement about using the wifi for legal and responsible manor blah blah blah. after you login then you can use the wifi as normal.

  I used to average about 20,000 steps daily when I was working, to a high of just over 30,000 according to a Fitbit.

  Now, retired, I don't think I get anymore than 1,000 most days unless I take the dogs for a long walk.....kinda blows
