  • First dose of reality with winter driving was this past Wednesday ... roads were slick in areas, and the wind was BLOWING!  Like @soeaster said, there's no frost (yet) so the snow was short lived ...

  • Just under 5 inches on the deck with a tape measure and it is still coming down. Another big storm is supposed to roll in Friday and Saturday. Looks like I will be riding Sunday.

  • Next weeks temps look good to start the freezing process!

snowing here too, not that it matters.  Trails don't open till after hunting season, which is 12-15 in the northern zone, and Jan 1st southern zone

No frost in the ground yet either.

First dose of reality with winter driving was this past Wednesday ... roads were slick in areas, and the wind was BLOWING!  Like @soeaster said, there's no frost (yet) so the snow was short lived ... but the temps now & the upcoming forecast looks good to get things going in the right direction.  We'll see if this year will be one of those "bonus riding in December" seasons.  I hope so!

Looks like 4.3" in the next 24 hours and sub freezing temps in the next week of forecast and single digit lows with sub zero wind chills.  Not bad

So the weather man is teasing. If they are correct I should get close to 18 inches of snow in the next week. If that actually happens I will be riding on the first when the trails open as the snow will probably melt down to about 8 inches. Supposed to get 6 inches tomorrow

Pond on the farm is froze over and the super duper secret Area 51 testing lake is too.

Time to sharpen up the ice picks.

These must be pictures of Alaska, they's the only ones who get snow

Upper Michigan. Snowbelts.  Looking like a 4 day event coming with 20+. If the weather forecast is true. Lake effect snowbelts can be really hit or miss with forecasts. Still remember years ago in the UP (upper michigan) going to bed and they says 6" overnight. I wake up and its up over the tires on a full size truck!  :yikes:

Things are looking promising ... cold temps rolling in, snow up north, trails are marked.  Yep, bring on the season! :bc:

Looking good in Central Ontario as well. Just need to get the next 3 days out of the way

I ended up with 7 inches of heavy wet snow on the deck. The temp has dropped down into the 20s now so hopefully everything firms up overnight. Still under a winter weather advisory tonight for lake effect snow. Supposed to get a decent storm end of the week. I live in soo township in the eastern up. Should be decent riding this weekend if we get the snow they are calling for and you stay out of the swamps. The ground is still not frozen yet.

I guess Marquette county got hit hard with around 2 feet of snow. Looking at the radar the wind is pushing the snow into Canada at the moment

My new secret lake had skim ice over the whole thing yesterday and it’s not gonna be above 27 there in the 10 day forecast. Now I don’t know whether to leave it slugged until the first ice race in January or pull everything out and get some early season riding in it I can.
