Lots of Tesla charging station opens after land fall of this hurricane.  Not much of an issue charging in the Tampa area and all around Florida.  Hard to not be able to go 50 miles in any direction of where the hurricane made land fall and not find an open Tesla supercharger with power.  Current status…

Tesla has the network advantage for sure but fucking expensive.  I can go from 10-80% in less than 20 minutes for $10.00 when petro Canada chargers are working well. Less than $15.00 at some other timed chargers.  It’s close to $35.00 at the tesla stations.  
 

For the anti ev “But yer battery is gonna be dead in a couple of years”. I just had it in for service. 26,000km 18 months and the battery is 100%.

What happens after the EV and charging stations have been under water for a few days???? Asking for someone living in Florida....

My average on supercharging is 33 cents a kwh.  Not anybody I found in the US can deliver it cheaper then Tesla for DC fast charging.

Super chargers all the electrical connections are at the top of the charger and sealed against the elements.  Super charger would be fine.  If your home charger is under water and just like any electrical component covered in salt water it will probably all need to be replaced.  If your vehicle has or electric is submerged in salt water the propulsion method doesn’t really determine how totaled it will be.  Submerged vehicles are totaled out.

here are supercharger connections.  Around 6-7 feet off the ground and sealed up.

I’ll think about the convenience of a Tesla next time I’m in a cat 3 hurricane. 

 

Talk about population control!  Boy Desantis has failed on this hurricane response which in the end wasn’t even that big/strong of a hurricane.  You think he would have had 100’s of fuel trucks staged full of fuel to get to the people

60-67 cents seems to be the norm at Tesla Canada. All the rest are all over the map. Some 200-350’s charge by the minute which is awesome if they deliver 200.  If they glitch and run at 50 then it isn’t great. 80- 90% of my charging is at home overnight at cheap rates so it doesn’t really matter. It’s all way cheaper than putting gas in a vehicle with the performance of an ev. 

Seeing all the stories about fights all fights and desperation I don’t think I would ever want to own a gas vehicle when large scale disasters hit.  Not only would it be an inconvenience but also you are intermingling and having to fight for gas with the cream of the crop of society and just spend too much time trying to get gas.

The industry average for brands, across all powertrain types, was 195 problems per 100 vehicles. Mass-market brands averaged 181 problems per 100 vehicles, while premium brands were higher at 232 problems, which J.D. Power attributes to the often more-complicated tech features these brands deploy.

Among the all-EV brands included in the study, Polestar averaged 316 problems per 100 vehicles while Tesla and Rivian both average 266 problems. These brands didn't qualify for rankings, but J.D. Power noted that Tesla's initial quality was roughly level with that of EVs from traditional automakers.

Tesla has performed better in the past, J.D. Power noted, adding that the removal of conventional controls like turn signal and wiper stalks "has not been well received by Tesla customers." Indeed, some of those customers are adding them back to the Model S, Model X, and the recently introduced Model 3 refresh, known as the Highland. But controls, displays, and tech features were a problem for EVs overall, the study found, with 30% higher problems per 100 vehicles compared to gasoline models.

These people are spending more time “filling up” the just the past few days then a person would over several hundred thousand miles of use in an EV.  😂

If Zelenskyy would give up those transformers that Biden gave him from the “US strategic transformer reserve” maybe they could get electricity on, to be able fire up the gas and diesel network and get people the gas and diesel they need.
