As in they test and tune till production starts. Snowest second trial said to be everything the 9 R is, but without the exploding gas tank.

it wouldnt be the shootout without Jim doing the dyno tests, so i'm fine with it not happening this year

Any idiot that bought a particular sled because of the results obtained at any of those shoot-outs should be kicked in the ass with a steel toed boot twice every day for the rest of their lives.  Those HP numbers that were published, along with the results, didn,t mean squat in the real world. It was one or a couple of different sleds from each of the participants, which does not guarantee that the one you buy will have the exact matching parts, and/or clutches, or clutching. With the hot boxes available these days, and yes, right from the manufacturers, you aren,t getting the same box of goods. We attended many of those shoot-outs over several years, and it was a fun time to tease your buddies if your particular brand happened to win on that particular day. The biggest laugh I got when we were there one year was when the local ski-doo dealers sled blew up, and all the heckling he got from the others that preferred the other brands. He was so pissed off he dropped his pants, and mooned the crowd, only to get more cheers from some, and more heckling from others. I always got a kick out of those special waivers that the manufacturers put in their brochures in the tiniest printing possible. Something along the lines of the manufacturer has the right to change whatever they want before building the real sleds sold to the regular consumer.  Even the sleds brought to the demo rides have been hopped up, by all the manufacturers, to suck in the dumb brand loyal fan boys, only for them to be dis-appointed once again when their own sled finally arrives, and they get to run against their buddies riding other brands.

And they knew at Jackson hole hillclimb there was a problem from their two factory mtn riders, and sleds went out to dealers and buyers without a remedy.

Come to think of it, they used a 600 with a Turbo and an 800 retrofitted to the Catalyst. You truly are a stupid fuck!

Most recent SnowTech test on the M858 states.......NOWHERE near the other oem 850's.......And definately not in the same category as the 9R...They sounded disappointed, and used the excuse that the other oem's had several seasons of refinement by now...lol

Not talking Snow tech. They did not get to try the improvements that Snowest did. Snow Tech did say that they were told it is a work in progress.

Jeremy Houle from Speedwerx posted a video on 858 products and he not-so-subtly predicted that a new fuel map would be a popular upgrade this season.

Combine that with Snowest initially not happy with the 858 performance, then on the second test loving it, I'm thinking there's meat on the bone there in fueling.

From one of Cats test riders to my bud who ordered an 858. You will like the sled. It will be faster than the 9R even when the fuel tank ignites!
