24 Catalyst 600 ZR ATAC 137 - STUDS

Groomed trails, lakes. Moderately aggressive.

It's been some time since I have had a studded track, 02 ZR 800 CCE, 192 I believe. I don't need to be that aggressive anymore.

What did you put in? I looked at the Woody's site and they are either at 96 or 144 with 6" carbide up front.

Looking to see what people have done.

  • That FastTrac kit with the 96 studs is 100% good for your sled, and that's also a very quality product.

If you're worried about track longevity use a double backer setup and avoid the outside belts.

I am not a fan of double backers. Low stud count work for people that ride slow. For drag racing you better be running chisels

I will also say you are 100 percent right on this. What I do I need a lot of studs. And suspension adjustments will make the studs a non issue. I can kick my sled sideways without an issue and stop way better than not having a lot of studs

JT or Larson kit are worth the money for 2 reasons. They use really good wheels/bearings and they also use a billet axel and adjusters. The only down fall to them is they are the most expensive but they will last forever. The stock rear axle set up is very cheaply made. JT is running a sale right now on their’s for 300 bucks which is a really good price on it. The Larson kit is kinda hard to get. JT has a website you can order it from.

I had a JT kit on my '14 800 after the tri-hub was gritty. Worked great for a couple of years but then had a catastrophic failure, ALMOST didn't make it home. Todd was surprised it happened and offered to help make it right. I ended up going back to a tri-hub just because I had another trip planned in a few days and ended up selling the sled after that. FWIW, I did put a JT on my '20 800 last year so it's good to go now since I didn't have it out.

I've run 144 studs and 8" carbides on the last 4 sleds and I'll do the same on the new one. We ride anywhere from sight-seeing speed to hard and fast and it's been a great, balanced combo. Enough traction to launch hard and yet still kick out in the corners if you want.
