What’s the procedure when the nominee resigns? I doubt there is one in this scenario, but the obvious answer is for the voters to show their displeasure at the ballot box.

Do they not nominate after all the party delegates have had their rounds of voting to select who the delegates feel is best?

Optically these appears to be a party coup and since Biden is the sitting president, a national coup?

They do have options. The pledged delegates are able to vote for another candidate if someone drops out after the primaries occur.

That’s how party politics works. Similar situation when Lyndon Johnson was pressured to end his reelection campaign in ‘68. Strange how this is being label an illegal/forceful overthrow of government (which it’s neither) and that wasn’t.
