Wildfires in Nova Scotia are ‘out of control’ and forcing 16,000 people from their homes

Recommended Posts

The fires are burning but when the news says record breaking heat. They are straight out lying

that have burned through thousands of acres have forced more than 16,000 Canadians to evacuate their homes and triggered a burn ban in Nova Scotia, as the region experiences record-breaking heat.

For this time of the year +30*C could very well be a record breaking temp for areas of NS. Not a big deal either way.

Hopefully @smokin george isn't affected by these fires.

Always thought Nova Scotia as a more temperate and wetter climates where huge wildfires really couldn’t get going like they are in the Spring

May fires are common in that area.

Thirty percent of the fires have occurred in the month of May; however, fires have been recorded for all months. Fire rotation periods for the province as a whole were 1000 or 2500 years, using the mean annual burn or median annual burn, respectively, for all burns in the years 1915 to 1975.

There has been very little rain here in Nova Scotia for quite a while and the fire ban has been on for quite some time. The hottest weather was only last wknd sofar. We are 20 min to the one fire and 2 hours away from the other. Yesterday the smoke was pretty thick here and a firefighting helicopter was circling and fire crews were sitting by the beach nearby I guess in case something had started here. Later in the day 2 water bombers were headed towards the closer fire

IDK which wildflowers are affecting the air quality here in north central Wisconsin this morning but it's awful.

Smoke originating from wildfires in Quebec, Canada is currently impacting PM2.5 concentrations at the surface across much of the state. The air quality index is expected to range from the UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS level to the UNHEALTHY level across the advisory area. In general, the lowest PM2.5 concentrations are expected to the northwest, while highest concentrations are expected near north central and northeast Wisconsin, within and around the Fox River Valley.  It is recommended that people with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion, while everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.

Yes, it's because of wildflowers.  Further evidence 'god' hates us.

Badgers favorite phrase, which I doubt he even knows its meaning

"Case in point!"
