I used to love the "super slippery" from wahl brothers.. They have not carried them for a few years now but I did like those and felt they cut friction alot.. Maybe drill them out a little. Good idea on the vespel

Use to put the slides on a table saw and cut a slot down the center.  Before you line up for radar or speed runs run the sled in snow to pack center slot with snow.  During the run when the slides heated up this would melt the snow and lube the slides.  This is old school.

You guys have better tech/products you can run now.  Neat to watch and read about.:thumb:

We drilled hundreds of holes in them instead.

It was good practice for drinking and power tool use.

For trail riding we found the holes got plugged up with small pebbles unless you drilled them at a reverse angle.  Drinking helped with this tedious task.

Cutting a slot "seemed" to help to keep it clear of pebbles/dirt.

Grass drags we would cut a large slot in the center and chamfer the sides to run minimal contact of the slides on the track for stock and improved stock because you were basically running on the wheels anyway.  The bearings had no grease in and were heavily sprayed with a light lube.  They were changed out after each run.
