Also shows how fucking stupid you are to think American's didnt discriminate against immigrants back then https://billofrightsinstitute.org/activities/cartoon-analysis-immigration-in-the-gilded-age-1882-1896 Introduction The late nineteenth century experienced one of the largest mass migrations in history. Millions of immigrants came to the United States from other parts of North America, as well as from Europe and Asia. Immigrants, who settled in the United States primarily for the economic opportunity afforded by industrialization, faced many challenges upon arriving. The influx of so many immigrants changed American culture and presented unique tensions in American society. This led to a debate among native citizens over immigration, citizenship, and the restriction of immigration. Immigrants arriving during the Gilded Age included large numbers of eastern Europeans and Asians. Cartoons from the period reflect differing perspectives on the new wave of immigrants. Some welcomed these men and women as a new source of cheap labor; others viewed these newcomers with suspicion. My grandfather’s store was burned to the ground and they were forced to flee in the middle of night because they were immigrants. That was in the 40’s. My grandparents were proud to be Americans. My family fought and died for this country. They would of never thought of flying a foreign flag in front of their house. As long as it's through a poe and they have to remain in Mexico until their hearing. Same. But the border needs to be secured, stick to and enforce existing laws and limit the numbers. Our country cannot absorb 10 million illegals a year, which is what Biden admin would live. What I find hilarious yet sad is hearing all these sanctuary city mayors whining that the can’t take in all the illegals. gmafb. 2 hours ago, Mainecat said: Oh the horrors. As I said the title 42 law held up asylum for 3 years and backed it way up. The process takes time.
