Thing is it hardly ever happens because they know what they can produce and keep track of everything to a T.

Where is the incentive to cut or control costs (inflation)?   Where is the incentive to grow and produce more jobs?  I can only assume the price is set by the govt as well both to the farmer and to the consumer?

The price of milk is high enough to make a decent profit. To grow the buisness they buy more quota from when another farmer sells out.its been working very well in Canada for years

Again who sets that price?  I can't see how you can tell someone you can only produce so much then have free market setting prices.

:lmao:25-50% higher than the us is Comparable.

https://albertamilk.com/ask-dairy-farmer/why-is-milk-so-expensive/

Prices for Canadian dairy products are comparable to prices in other countries.

The price of milk in stores varies from region to region and store to store as we do not set the price of milk; retailers do. It cost between $1.25-1.50 per litre in Canada, while in the US, consumers pay about $1.00 a litre, in China $1.70, in Australia $1.00 to $1.55, in New Zealand $1.65. (Source: AC Nielsen, 2011)

Take in the difference in the dollar and they are pretty much the same.

Glad its working.   I wouldn't say better than America with 25-50% higher prices.   Yes taxpayers pay for subsidies so it might come out even in the end however i'd just prefer the free market take care of itself.  Too many other benefits not too let it work out the "bugs".

My old man grew up on a farm and did a lot of milking by hand.   Had to drink it ALL THE TIME.   Up to the day he died I never seen him drink a glass of milk.   Use to drive me crazy how little he would put in cereal.

My uncle and grandpa had the farm when I was a kid and I loved going and staying there.  Everything from milking to castrating pigs.  Memories I will never forget.

Im just saying how it works here. It's the one buisness in farming is doing well. Consumers pay more no doubt but the farms are at least profitable. Farming is a huge buisness in any country and we all know what happens when any big buisness fails   Government steps in and bails them out at taxpayers expense.

No doubt.   Nobody knows that more than people from Iowa.  Farm just 1/2 mile down the road milks cows.   Never ending job.  That dude takes a break from work to find some other work to do.

Take in the exchange rate in the dollar and it's not as big of a difference as you would think.
