DeSantis and his people started reading passages from a few of the books and local media had to stop broadcasting because it was too sexually graphic.   If you think those books should be in schools for grade schoolers you are fucking moron.

That is what people in my district have been saying for years.  The 2 towns bordering us have higher test scores at a lower cost per student

So either give us a cheaper price or a better product

Our idiot governors solution was to get rid of any kind of scoring.
Schools and students getting failing grades.  Don’t test them….problem solved.

She is also doing away with grading a school’s performance.  No more failing schools in Michigan.

The Read by Grade 3 retention component of the law was, on its best day, harmful to kids.   Educators knew this and used the watered down law’s many exemptions to waiver the students forward anyway.

Also, students in Michigan will still be required to take standardized tests.  That’s not going away.

I’m Michigan, Rick Snyder and the republican majority at that time put a real hurting on education with unfounded mandates, budgets, retirement cuts, etc.   Today the state has a massive teacher shortage.

All states have a massive teacher shortage. Dont know why it took so long. When you ask people to assume $75k in debt to get a job that pays the same as a high school grad , it is not an easy position to fill.

And it's not about teaching as much as it is providing a daycare service for a lot of the younger grades now.  Even with a masters degree, teaching doesn't really provide a salary to get super excited about.  For the life of me, I don't know why anyone would want to go into that profession in this day & age.  Granted, there's still a lot more good kids than bad ones, but the bad ones are the ones that take up all of a teacher's time & there's nothing they can do to discipline those kids.

The bottom line is a sucessful school system has parents that are involved in their kids education.

And parents who parent so teachers can teach instead of parenting.

Thats how its supposed to work, but Dems lost it.

Pull your kids out of public schools.

Ontario teachers are paid over 100K, it changes nothing except more entitlements.

People live in a State don’t even take the time to research the facts. Just listen to what ever horse shit their party tells them.

wow !  Them some brutal cuts.  Poor teachers.  Whitmer just signed the biggest education bill ever. But!!!!! The problem is lack of funds.

Do the research for all his years in office, then you can decide if you’re example told the whole story.

I can find that for you too. The Federal government was the one who cut funding. So Snyder had to make up the difference with State funding.  So yes, want to spit hairs,  funding did go down.  Not the exaggerated rate that you would like to believe, but none the less.

Do you think we are now spending enough under the Whitmer budget? There has never been a Governor more beholden to the teachers union. I eagerly await the results.

You left out the Canadian Pesos after the 100k.

You don't think US teachers are making 6 figures for an incredibly short work schedule. Don't forget that doesnt include the bennies.
