The Chinese are building what will probably become the standard of hybrids.

An ev with a small generator

Like the Chevy volt. Take the pain out of road tripping, or being stranded on the side of the road.

Is there anything shocking in that video?

Toyota is rampping up eletricl vehicle development but isn't abandoning hydrogen.

The new ceo has said multiple times they a pivoting to eletric in a big way..  I couldn't watch the video because narration and recycled content....

Yea Wife's 1.5T Civic gets 36mpg around town also.

I would think by now Hybrids would be getting 45mpg.

Not with me driving, and I guarantee the Equinox doesn't have near the power.

Compare the size of the Sportage to a Civic, 40 and awd.  with me driving is pretty damn good if my wife drove it 45 is quite possible.

I think Toyota is going to have a hard time selling electric or hybrid Hilux pickup trucks to third world hell hole military groups which seems to be a key market for them.

Nothing worse than being late to a suicide bombing cuz you forgot to fill up on electrons this morning....

For sure I think that is good for a SUV.

More or less just saying the new small Gas turbo engines are really efficient also.

11 X5, 24.2

18 X5 19.8

07 convertible 24.1

And plenty happy with that.

What happened to the M?

In normal driving the Escalade 8-11mpg and the S6 14mpg.  On the highway with the cruise set and never hitting the gas pedal just over 20 and just over 30 respectively....but that never happens as it is really hard to not stomp on the fun pedal.

It has pretty good power for a 1.6 turbo, add in the electric and it scoots pretty well.
