I'm trying to uninstall Thunderbird e-mail because although I hear the sound when a new email arrives nothing is there (EVER) to open up, so I get into programs and do the uninstall Thunderbird but nothing shows up in the Recycle bin to empty, wth is going on? Then when I re-install Thunderbird the same thing happens over & over, I tried 8 times now.

Not real computer smart so------thanks for any help or ideas.

Are you sure the new emails aren't just being put into a different folder than the Inbox?

Uninstalled programs do not show up in the Recycle Bin.

It sounds like something isn't being removed upon the uninstall.

Try uninstalling Thunderbird again, reboot, install and run CCleaner. Click "Registry" and then "Scan for Issues". Click "Review Selected Issues". Click "Yes" to backup the changes, save to "My Documents" or something similar. Click "Fix All Selected Issues".

Now click "Custom Clean" and select "Run Cleaner".

Let it run, reboot.

Now install Thunderbird again.

I'll try once more and post if it worked.

So I installed it on 1 of my other computers and it worked, weird that I can't uninstall it on the other computer, I think, even though it doesn't show up in my programs and when I re-install it everything is still there as before and it still won't send or receive mail even though the taskbar icon says I have mail, it simply won't open.

@SSFB laid out about as good of a checklist as I could suggest.  The CCleaner tool is a good one that most people don't consider, so I hope you truly downloaded that and used it as outlined above.  Short of shutting down all other applications prior to the new install, I don't know what else to do to start from scratch.  My initial thought was the same one regarding, are you sure the "beep" notification isn't due to mail showing up in another folder?  For example, I have gmail and there's 3 folders new mail can go into.

We have been using CCCleaner for years. Good program, something else must be up.

I looked at every other folder, thing started to act up a few days ago till now where it doesn't work at all except it shows mail in the taskbar Thunderbird icon, that disappears when I try to open it in Thunderbird.

Thunderbird is just a vessel for email, not email itself. It can be setup to host a variety of email accounts, from Google to Outlook and even Yahoo Mail.
It sounds like your PC has a disconnect in the registry in relation to the software's installation location and/or security descriptors, and its acting buggy when you try to open it or re-install it.
With todays operating systems it can be hard to manually repair things like this, even if you have the ability to restore to an earlier point. I would just re-image the device. Nothing helps a PC run better, work faster and load/install programs properly like a clean OS install. If it's a laptop I am betting it has a factory image. I can help you load it if needed.

Have you considered going back to handwritten letters sent through the United States Postal Service?

We have a Postal Service, really? I didn't know, geez 200-300 everyday might get costly.
