Thoughts?

Regardless of the circumstances, when a human kills another human, more than likely it's going to leave everlasting mind trauma. My uncle killed a man in the service around 60 years ago in self defense with his bare hands after he was attacked first. When he returned home he was never the same, became an alcoholic and died at 62 from alcoholism.
