Looks like Pine Lake is a go this weekend, will be interesting if we see any of the hand built Catalyst sleds on the race track this weekend

It will be interesting to see how the ass dragger class goes. A bunch of the actual old pro ass draggers are signed up to race those sleds they did back in the day. Could get interesting

I'm going to be following how Nick Swenson does this year, he doesn't have much sled racing experiences but he is a beast with offroad xc motorcycles.  He's racing under Carver this year.

Gunner Arlaud (cat) won the pro open, Evan Peppel (pol) won semi pro improved.  50% dnf rate in pro open!!

I bet a lot of the DNF's were guys who were out of the money paying positions saying to heck with it.

Why put miles and wear on already expensive to run sleds?

$1000 bribe tomorrow to keep the pros in the non-money positions on the track.  Random finishing position drawn and you have to stick it out to the banquet too.

Since we are not a points paying race circuit, we understand why a lot of the top pros pulled off the race track today when you realized you were not going to get a paycheck because of well, you didn’t feel like riding for free because you were out of the money, and we understand that because we are a family of former racers on a budget.
However, we also want to put on a show for the fans that are lined up for a half mile along that beautiful Pine Lake shoreline.
That being said, the orange fish house will have a kid draw a number when the race starts tomorrow and that finishing position out of the money will take home $1,000.00 in cash.
The catch is though, you must be present to win at the trophy presentation tomorrow night, and we are not going to tell anyone what the winning finishing position for the $1,000.00 is until we announce it at the trophy presentation.
It is equal to about $500.00 per hour to ride a snowmobile, not a bad gig

then,

Imagine this.
A young man and his dad rolled in with a two place open trailer today that had a stock four stroke snowmobile from a wood stove race shop and a sled that probably has 8,000 miles on it.
Then, imagine this.
He won Pro Open on a sled with the #56 on it. The same number Gerald raced with all of his career.
Did they celebrate? Yep. For about 45 minutes. What are they likely doing now next to that wood stove? Rebuilding that sled and going for another $10,000.00 tomorrow
Races start at 9 AM

I still have my 97 ZR 440, when I had that sled lowered for the Northwoods Challenge races, that sled was on rails, the first race of the year was on Sand Lake at Pitliks Resort, fast ice, great time!
