Cheetolini found guilty of misleading investors....

Canada's highest court upholds ruling that Donald Trump did mislead investors

Source: Independent (U.K.)

A lawsuit alleging that Donald Trump and a real estate development firm misled investors, has been upheld by Canada's highest court.

Sarbjit Singh and Se Na Lee alleged they were sold units in Toronto's, Trump International Hotel, under false pretences.  The pair claimed they were misled to believe their investments would see returns ranging from 7.7 per cent to 20.9 per cent. Instead, they said they lost a combined C$1.2m (£732,810).

The Ontario Court of Appeal last year, sided with them in their case against Mr Trump, Talon International Development and former executives of that firm.

True, I don't know why he would license his name out but that's really his business.  Sounds like these two got taken by a Tom Vu experience.

WTF

so I see a guy and a lady who could not afford to play went all in looking for short term $$ in real-estate

from your article with no real details.

BTW I want my share of solyndra back I was told it was a sure thing

Mr Singh nor Mrs Lee were sophisticated investors, in real estate or otherwise" and "both had to borrow heavily from family to finance their purchases”.

Mr Singh had been discharged from bankruptcy three years before making the purchase and was earning around C$55,000 a year as a warehouse supervisor, it said.

He did not have enough money for the deposit for the unit and had to receive help from his father, a retired welder, who agreed to help and took out a line of credit on his own home to finance the loan.

for fucks sakes the more I look the more pathetic I see the court is in CA

are U fucking joking .

the project did not even start till 07 oh what happened in 08?

oh people lost money on a real estate deal that  did not even break ground till just before a major housing/development crash ?

let me guess the 2 people in question did not stick with it till completion or even today when they would have done just fine

It is named for American real estate developer and President of the United States, Donald Trump, a minority shareholder in the project. The tower is located in the Financial District, at 311 Bay Street, on the southeast corner of Bay and Adelaide streets. Construction began with the removal of the sales centre in September 2007, but the official groundbreaking was on October 12, 2007.

man there are a few things I sunk cash in to in my day that I wish a CA judge would get back for me

Unfortunately, even IF you win , the chances of ever collecting are about 50% less than zero.

The only real winners, are the lawyers.

Canada didn't have a housing crash.

Read up on this Trump development in Toronto.  It's a fucking disaster.  It was on the market for sale for awhile and nobody even bid on it, so it just sold to the largest shareholder for pennies on the dollar.

:lmao:

The building was built by a "Russian Canadian" too.

True, but he sure seems to have very low standards for who he is willing to partner up with.

Trump Toronto is a disaster

Trump Azerbaijan is a disaster and possibly criminal

Usually savvy businessmen would work like hell to protect their good name since that is the very thing he's licensing here.  I don't see how a bunch of Trump branded hotel failures benefit him in the long run.  It's really odd.

so u are telling me construction projects in Canada were unaffected by bank crashes and  stock crashes and commercial real estate values  held strong? bull fucking shit . only banks lending anything in the world in 08 were the Germans and the Chinese's and they sure shit were not funding construction projects in any way shape or forum.

I believe the project went to shit but if u really think the global recession had no impact u are insane .

We had a recession 100%. I didn't claim otherwise, but there was no real estate crash.

He's correct.  Our real estate might have paused for a bit, but there was no crash or price pullback.

I'm not sure what this has to do with Trump Tower Toronto, but once again, there was no real estate crash in Canada.
