Batteries last 10 plus yrs. My brother will be on his 3rd new Ev by then.

So how are they "worth it"?

I don't just own one car, I own 5.  I buy them new and keep them for 10 years.

How is it worth owning 5?

Very few mechanical issues but they depreciate and cost $$$.

How would I be further ahead if they were ev's?

One day they will be OK, but that isn't now unless you like fads.

The track record for lithium batteries and their longevity is well documented. 3000 battery cycles before it drops below 100%. At 4500 cycles the capacity drops to 80%. That's for LFP.

So they should last a pretty long time.

What's it cost to replace on average?

They putting good warranties on them?

You described mostly any new vehicle.

You have far to drive to work?

You said you have 5 vehicles. Obviously cost isn't an issue, but savings on fuel you'd be ahead.

Oh, I can make one EV work just driving around home, but why would I want half a vehicle?

There is no savings.

I find it rather amusing the ones pushing EV's when they don't own any.

There is also a false sense that EV's are more reliable than ICE vehicles.  They are not.

Not seeing any pollution control issues there, which happens quite often on ICE vehicles.

So you are one of those who believes the EV is 100% green?

There lies the problem.

No. I said there's no pollution control issues with an EV like there is with an ICE.

Your comprehension is the problem.

Zero issues with pollution control with any of my current or past cars.  My 2010 F150 exhaust is still original.

Why would I buy a piece of shit that is ranked 28 out of 29 in reliability?

Shit my 20 year old Escalade still has its original exhaust.  200k and towing sleds in New England salt/brine.

I did just recently have to replace fuel vapor canister but other than that no emission issues ever with that truck.

What does exhaust have have to do with pollution control issues?

Ask the EPA I guess why we need Cats then.....

Well, you will have cats and 02 sensors....

You're both missing the point. It's the sensors that bring up a CEL. There's no such sensors on a EV for pollution control.

When you said exhaust I think he thought you mean the stacks where to coal is burned to produce electricity to charge the cars... :pc:

Coal is the only way electricity is produced?
