Matt
I mean, all that water does just end up flowing out to the gulf. Makes more sense to tap that than the harebrained scheme of sticking a big straw into Lake Michigan.

ICG
. Yes it's a creative idea, and may keep New Orleans a little dryer .... But how do you 🤔 1.) Clean THE muddy Mississippi River water? 2.) Supply electricity for the pumping system? ?? How many NEW Nuclear powered electrical power plants would be necessary to power the pumps? ?? Is it remotely possible to power it Off the grid with Solar + Wind power? Could the California customers afford such an expensive operation 🤔 ? How would it operate if / when the Mississippi River is in a drought? This has happened with in the last 20 years. Maybe draining the Rio Grande would be more effective? Either way, I'm game to work on a new pipeline..... when does it start ?
racinfarmer
Sounds like a really good project that would be sold to the tax payers at a cost of like $100b and end up really costing $350b with 0 accountability.

racer254
The production of lithium through evaporation ponds uses a lot of water - around 21 million litres per day. Approximately 2.2 million litres of water is needed to produce one ton of lithium. “The extraction of lithium has caused water-related conflicts with different communities, such as the community of Toconao in the north of Chile,” the FoE report specifies.
