Govt abuses and crimes should never be defended or covered up by any news outlet or any person. This poor guy did the right thing here and I don't even think you are taking into account the position he found himself in. The laptop had security level information on it from the Whitehouse which just being in possession of is a crime. To his credit he gave the FBI the Laptop and Rudy Giuliani a copy of the drive so that he would not end up in some cell with no proof of his story.
