The failure of Russia's tanks

Recommended Posts

Have you ever heard of the battle of 73 Eastings? During the Iraq war a small group of American tanks made up of M1 Abrams and Bradley's got caught out in the open after a dust storm right in front of 30 to 40 iraqi tanks all made in Russia. Didn't end well for the Iraqis in less then ten minutes the whole force of tanks was destroyed. Russians tank have not been that great for a long time but there are a ton of them.... quantity not quality.

Some of the newer tanks that got knocked out in the north are most telling. Russian top of the line T 90 and T 80 SM with the real armor upgrade and a slew of sensors.

The immense failure of their tanks are probably due to poor positioning. Roads are death traps for tanks. It’s also a testament to the effectiveness of the American and German hardware. They were never against that in Syria.

All of that maybe true but the majority of the credit needs to go to the Ukrainians. They could have rolled over and showed their belly to Putin like everyone else but instead they took a stand. This time next year I think we will be talking about the second fall of Russia.

Their newer tanks are so awesome they are fabricating metal cages on top of them to help defend against top down anti-tank weapons.

So it really goes to show everyone that a well armed citizenry can make all the difference in the world.  Didn't biden say something about that once?

Biden said, "If you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons. The point is that there has always been the ability to limit — rationally limit the type of weapon that can be owned and who can own it."

Let's be honest - with Iraqis in them is a huge diff. We all saw their jumping jack attempts in that vid. They're idiots.

It's where technology meets ambition. Without the American and European weapons, it would be another Syria. I read some analysis from 2017 where what's happening now was predicted. This is almost like an orchestrated plan to bring down Russia and turn China's neighbor into a ghetto state.

Isn't it already a ghetto state, but with nukes?  Or, as some have said, the world's gas station disguised as a county, with nukes.

The 9 M1A1 tanks of Eagle Troop destroyed 28 Iraqi tanks, 16 personnel carriers and 30 trucks in 23 minutes with no American losses.

Wow, never heard of that one.  You are right though, completely destroyed the Iraqis in minutes with no American loses.

I've been watching a few videos on Youtube of guys running simulations of our fight jets vs the Russian made ones.  One F-15 here takes out 7 Mig-29s before they can even get a radar lock on.  Our F-22 Raptor is so advanced our pilots need to sand bag the joint training exercises because the real performance and methods of flying it are still classified.

Doesn't seem like the Russians are all that proficient either.

They aren’t very proficient in the air either. Reports are that pilots get 3-5 hours of flight time a month.

Russian pilots are not good at close air support which would be absolutely necessary to win in Ukraine and they are afraid of their own sides surface to air defense as they have a better chance of getting shot down by their own. Syria just goes to show how bad they are. The Russian aircraft carrier made a week of operations before it broke down and had to be towed home. The Israeli watched every move the Russians made in the air and to put it mildly they were not impressed.

Yep every night on the news in the last few weeks have showed the counery why it's citizens should be allowed to own what ever guns they want
