Anyone else stash some money in a place that you wouldn't forget just before going on a little bender and couldn't remember after?

Guy I work with told me this story. His friend had a fake electrical box in his house I guess it was just a dummy cover with a big void behind it. Apparently he stuffed 100k cash in it and forgot about it. He got divorced and his ex wife called him one day after a contractor found it during a remodel asking if he lost some cash lol she actually gave it back to him supposedly.

The 2" stack I have of 20"s, 50"s and 100"s is $28K. I just added another 1/4" to it of 100"s and 50$s to a total of $36,500. Not bad for on hand cash. I'll find something to spend it on.

In the wrong neighborhood, they will kill you for a lot less. .  .

Still remeber carrying in white money bags as a kid into the office to buy parents first new 50' Hatteras.  Marina owner went bonkers, when I told him, we were there to pick up the yacht.  No, happier when I told him we were escorted with armed body guard.

      I wouldn't consider that today.

And yes, found a wallet stuffed with cash this summer, gave it to the cops to return.  Couldn't  sleep at night scoffing someone's wallet.

These days a large amount of cash just gets you a visit from the IRS, paying cash just doesn't have the same reaction it did when I was younger. When I was still working people always wanted a cash discount and the company won't do that. Placing 100-150 yards of concrete in your foundation and wanting a lesser price for cash didn't do a thing for you other than let you show off for a moment.

Not like our company bought a new mixer with it or paid us that way. Cash is good for small things under 10K or a self employed person or a used motorcycle/sled private sale.

I have been carrying large amounts of cash since around 1969, never had any IRS issues, almost always pay with cash never use a credit card and don't know how to use an ATM, never even tried one, use a Debit card on line for things ordered, I deposit $1,000-$1,800 in cash every month into my Business account, any time it's a $1,000 or more I have to sign a slip they said is for the IRS.

Mystic River Marina?  My folks bought a couple new Hatteras's from the Gabberinos (sp) back in the 80s.  I just bought my brothers Ocean 40 last spring, he bought a Searay 50 and we keep them at MRM now too.  :bc:  THey used to have some killer Hatteras parties back in the day.

Ironic, I was talking to a form contractor, that stressed he competes on 100% cash jobs.  Pays supplier on discounted cash price.

Who knows where the monkey business is happening?

Lots of places won't charge sales taxes if you pay with cash, like auto repair and body shops.

Even some dealerships..:cop:

Nobody is going to refuse money but they will submit paperwork at 10k. I paid 9500$ for a bike this year and the shop said "smells like my grandparents basement" so I said attic. She responded and just under the amount we report to the IRS.

So I did it again for fun

They reported the sale to the IRS for a Bike purchase? Never saw that when I worked at a Poo/Doo dealership in the 1980's. I know cash Bank deposits they do.
