OFFICIAL 2021-22 SLEDDING THREAD

the little dealerships back then were cool, gas stations and hardware stores selling sleds as a sideline.    just about all of them have disappeared or had to grow up since then.   I parked a few weeks back at what was Petes Garage which was a cat dealer for decades but prob been 15 years since they closed now.

In my little hometown, the cement plant, meat locker, both car dealers, both implement dealers, a lakeside bar/liquor store, and a farmer all sold snowmobiles.

My dad says the bar one was cool.  They pretty much put a windowed wall down the center of the building and started selling sleds and outboard motors.  You could sit in the bar with a drink and buy a sled.

Decent base in NY still looks like?

I rode sunday in Vermont and it was pretty thin. Gravel everywhere.

Yes, some snow, not much on top of a few feet of ice.. Corners were real icy, but for the most part was pretty good enjoyed the day..just getting sick of riding by myself, both my buddies sleds are down and have been the whole season..

Old Forge is great, plus it's snowing!

How are the UP conditions?

Good for now…we’ll see after the weekend but guessing the trails will be OK and offtrail in a lot of areas should hold up as well.👍🏼

Saw this on FB...

To  everyone that thinks the Polaris matrix 650 is a non-reliable machine I beg to differ just finished a 24 hour ride throughout upstate New York  2022 XCR 650 Preferred absolutely amazing never skipped a beat what currently has 4000 miles on it original belt spark plugs.

Shit . Went up Thursday road just east of baraga it was good and soft off trail crossed a trail a few times and they were groomed .

Sat woke up to rain and about 1/8 inch of ice on the trucks and a skating rink for a parking lot.  Called some buds in  phionex and calumet same story . Packed her In and drove home . Bars were packed with sleds every trail crossing packs of idiots fucking with there shields and goggles. Talked with some guys at a gas station trying to get back to there truck from a back pack trip they were litteraly covered in ice . Like bend over and chunks falling off .just hell .

Guess for trail burning it will make a solid base for March if it was smooth before the rain hit . Because it did turn to snow after dark

we rode yesterday up in Millinocket maine and forecast for today was not good  Asked my bud do we believe the forecast or hope and pray we don't ride in tain.  Decided to head home and as we were packing up went from snow to sleet to rain on top of 3-4 inches of snow.   I hate riding in the rain

Ended up with a 260 mile rip yesterday in the moosehead lake/katahdin area.  might be the last ride- I've got a week in Mexico coming back the 17th and my buddy a week in Jamaica right after that.  Have to hope the stars align for the weekend between i guess.  Forecast this weeks warm but if that changes maybe a Friday Saturday rip

Did a 4 day mid-week couples trip to catch up on the S's.  Sledding, sleeping, and screwing.

3 200 mile days and a 170 mile day to finish it up.  The RXC was not behaving, so it was a good thing I had the well aged XF6 with.  Turned over 10k on that and over 1600 on the new TNT.

Had a good ole trailer party in the hotel parking lot.

The first two days we rode, we met 1 sled on the trails and 4 sleds at someplace to eat, total.  By Friday it was getting crowded depending on where you go.

My biggest gripe - SIGNING SIGNING SIGNING SIGNING!!!  Mainly at intersections.

Only two pictures I took of Friday’s ride in the LP. 145 miles in by 3 pm when my sled started acting up about 15 miles south of Lewiston. In-laws place is northwest of Lewiston by about 15 miles by trail. Limped the sled into town and left it with the father in law at the bar (Tally’s. Pretty much anyone that know the area knows Tally’s) and rode his Classic back to the house to get the truck and trailer. Turns out, you really CANNOT use an AC quiet track on a Polaris. Leave it to a fucking Cat part to give me my first time limping my own personal sled out of the woods. @Crnr2Crnr Track was binding bad after I got on the brakes hard when I missed a left turn at a trail intersection that I needed (had it laid down pretty good because of how SWEET the trails were). Guess it just uncovered the issue that I hadn’t ran into over the 400ish miles I’ve ridden the sled so far this year. Pathetic. Now to find a proper track and a home for this track on a Cat. Had to cancel my three day weekend in Munising for this upcoming weekend because of it. :wall:

Father in Law living his best life. He loves a good, smooth trail ride. He turns 74 this year. Then, the aftermath in my garage Saturday afternoon. :flush:

Huh?  Are they not the same length, pitch or is the clip configuration vastly different?  From fuzzy memory the rubber nubs that run around the drivers/wheels are cut slightly different to produce less noise and create less harmonic resonance.

Now sure why the Cat quiet track would cause the issue you are experiencing.

Same...

Rode in the pouring Rain yesterday morning from Island Pond, VT . Trails were freshly groomed the night before. So I was first tracks on a lot of trails, didnt want to stop. But eventually was soaked to the bone and started getting cold so called it quits.

Day before went to Brighton Snowmobile Clubs cookout/raffle. Bluebird day had to be over 100 sleds parked at one point.

What a weird year.

Wife and I were up there this weekend as well. We stayed at the Seymour lodge in Morgan. Only rode Saturday but pounded out a little over 200 miles.
Took advantage of the free New Hampshire weekend. Ran over to Pittsburg quick, then back to April’s Maple in Canaan for a snack. Hit the border trail back to Derby, gotta eat at the Cow palace. Made a long loop heading back to Island Pond then trail 2001 back to Morgan.

Thats awesome. Glad you two had a good ride. :bc:

Safe to think we might have been some of the last people to enjoy those trails this season unless a monster snow storm happens soon.  Map conditions looking real ugly now.
