DeSantis proposes a new civilian military force in Florida that he would control

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to reestablish a World War II-era civilian military force that he, not the Pentagon, would control.

DeSantis pitched the idea Thursday as a way to further support the Florida National Guard during emergencies, like hurricanes. The Florida National Guard has also played a vital role during the pandemic in administering Covid-19 tests and distributing vaccines.

But in a nod to the growing tension between Republican states and the Biden administration over the National Guard, DeSantis also said this unit, called the Florida State Guard, would be "not encumbered by the federal government." He said this force would give him "the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible." DeSantis is proposing bringing it back with a volunteer force of 200 civilians, and he is seeking $3.5 million from the state legislature in startup costs to train and equip them.

The move by DeSantis comes on the heels of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's directive warning that National Guard members who refuse to get vaccinated against the coronavirus will have their pay withheld and barred from training. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, had requested an exemption for guard members in his state, which Austin denied.

The federal government exist by permission from the states, if the feds stayed in their lane abiding by the Constitution we’d be governed by the States hence the people. DeSantis is doing this because of federal over reach fuckery and medaling.

Feds should not be the ones to control the state militia,  right now there is dual control of the National Guard.  Simple thing would be to have that dual control disappear

One of the arguments against allowing all gun access is that the constitution gives the right of a well regulated militia to bear arms not specifically to citizens,  militia within the constitution not refering to a federal amy but to the state militias

I dont see a prob when the fed is getting in the way and playing politics with the nat guard the states have a right to assemble there own crisis ready battalion to deal with the issues that arise in there state  and not have to wait on the fed to get off there ass

Lol you are just pathetic.

The fed should not have any say or get in the way of a states needs of use of that states nat Guard.  And when the fed gets in the way a state not only has the right  but they have a obligation to there residence to have people on the stand by to do what is needed .

Recognizing that a well regulated militia is necessary, the right of the PEOPLE to keep in bear arms shall not be infringed.

We know we need a militia, but that doesn’t mean the right of the people shall be infringed.
