Roads, transit, internet: What’s in the infrastructure bill

Here’s a breakdown of the bill:

ROADS AND BRIDGES

The bill would provide $110 billion to repair the nation’s aging highways, bridges and roads. According to the White House, 173,000 total miles or nearly 280,000 kilometers of America’s highways and major roads and 45,000 bridges are in poor condition. And the almost $40 billion for bridges is the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the national highway system, according to the Biden administration.

PUBLIC TRANSIT

The $39 billion for public transit in the legislation would expand transportation systems, improve accessibility for people with disabilities and provide dollars to state and local governments to buy zero-emission and low-emission buses. The Transportation Department estimates that the current repair backlog is more than 24,000 buses, 5,000 rail cars, 200 stations and thousands of miles of track and power systems.

PASSENGER AND FREIGHT RAIL

To reduce Amtrak’s maintenance backlog, which has worsened since Superstorm Sandy nine years ago, the bill would provide $66 billion to improve the rail service’s Northeast Corridor (457 miles, 735 km), as well as other routes. It’s less than the $80 billion Biden — who famously rode Amtrak from Delaware to Washington during his time in the Senate — originally asked for, but it would be the largest federal investment in passenger rail service since Amtrak was founded 50 years ago.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The bill would spend $7.5 billion for electric vehicle charging stations, which the administration says are critical to accelerating the use of electric vehicles to curb climate change. It would also provide $5 billion for the purchase of electric school buses and hybrids, reducing reliance on school buses that run on diesel fuel.

What percentage of the total is that?....

Wast of money .let's start with charging stations.  Why? Did the govenment build gas stations? Why are they funding charging stations that a privet entity will make money on fir yrs to cone ?

Why are we funding fuckimg amtrack ? Total wast of cash . If the fucking trains can't pull thete own weight shut it down . It is less money to fly 90% of the time any way .

And airports? Really Why in the fuck is the fed funding somthing that the airlines should be 100% funding ?

Electric school busses ? Really ? Again most school bus fleets are privet contracted fleets. Why is the fed buying fleets for privet buisnnes ? Really Why?

Now on to highways . Here is a fucking idea . How about we stop using the fucking gas tax on any thing but fucking roads and bridge work.  Naw can't do that when thete ate fucking bike trails to build fuck you and fuck every ass hot Who thinks gas tax and tabs should go any place but back to the roads in the states that pay it in . The fed should not even. Be involved any more .

Now let's jump back about 12 yrs

What happend to all that infrastructure money for those shovel ready jobs? Remember when old Joe and Oboma fucked the American tax payer with this bullshit then . Why dose any one think this will be any different?

I'm interested in where that money is going, the Aviation use tax from fuel and registrations has been growing faster than what's getting spent, I'll have to look but that appears to be the amount taken out years ago to help bail out the general fund and was supposed to be replaced.

It was 3T+, seems some common sense prevailed. Has there always been pork, including now? Yes. Will this bill generally be good for the country. Yes.

Should we try and fix said pork so it can't be pushed through, regardless of the party, somehow, some way? Yes

How very passive of you.  These bills have become a joke for decades with small amounts actually being beneficial to anybody other than special interests but, we name them so Americans think they are “good” for all.

”Infrastructure bill”.  :lmao: Total joke.

Sheep shearing is fun when half of the livestock enjoy the process and defend it with their pea brains.

Not passive - people like to attack the outcome rather than the process, which becomes a never ending cycle. The process is the part that sucks. Lobbyist suck, no term limits suck - the unnatural outcomes from just those two items suck.

With that said, do you think the entire bill is a joke, or are there only certain parts of it you don’t like?
