IT was a fav for Americans for yrs. But as America gets more Asian the demand is down.

My family leases some farm land to a dairy farmer and they have us over every so often for the freshest milk in existence! It's fan-fucking-tastic!

My family with 3 kids goes thru a Gallon a day everyday.

I pretty much let my 4 year old Son drink as much milk as he wants. Even tho the Doctors will tell you otherwise. Yet my Kid is twice the size of his soy boy peers. 😂

How many here grew up on a dairy farm, or had a family member that milked?

How many still have someone in their family that milks?

We never owned a an actual dairy farm, but do own land that is farmed by neighbor farmer. I milked for a fellow farmer and many of my friends grew up on them.

Same. I've loved milk as long as I can remember and to this day, I drink almost as much as I did when I was a kid. 1% for me, however.

I had bad acne when I was in my teens so it was determined the homogenized milk I was drinking by the gallon was most likely contributing to that. I switched to 1% and my acne practically disappeared.

No kidding huh,  never heard that before..

I know once I started drinking a lot more water instead of soda as a teen my skin got much clearer.

Yep, I seen a skin specialist about it and he said drinking homogenized milk is like eating food as it is so thick/rich. He told me to cut back on the amount and switch to 1% and he was right. I was never a real pop, junk food consumer so the homogenized milk was the culprit.

I grew up on a dairy farm Central Ontario still have a brother and a nephew milking cows. Overproduction of milk is a problem everywhere in the world need to milk more cows to pay the bills the only problem is is already too much milk on the market it's a vicious circle.

My grandfather managed the local Pepsi bottling plant when I was a kid. They also bottled Varsity Birch Beer. My favorite growing up.

Good article.  I sell farm machinery.  So I have a bit of an understanding.  If you read that article the farmer by the name of Tony Hammell lives/farms just a couple miles east of my store.  Good customer of mine.  The big dairy he speaks of is De-Su Holsteins.  Even De-Su is not a mega dairy compared to some of the 10k dairies you find out west and down south.  Our ground is to hilly to support mega dairies but De-Su is sure trying.  There was a speaker at a dairy convention a couple years ago that was talking about expansion.  He basically said if a couple more 10k cow dairies come online there will be no where for the little dairy to take there milk to market.  Thats why you are starting to see farmers doing something like this.  https://www.gerdesfreshfarm.com/  Another good customer of mine.  Just getting started but they are going to be a big hit with all these "organic" hippy people....  People wanting to know where their food comes from is a good thing.

My father did.  From the time I can remember he hated milk because as poor farmers that's all they had to drink besides water.  This was heavy, room temp milk.  Would drive me nuts how little he would put in his cereal.   I love cold 1%.   Don't eat much cereal but still drink probably 1/2 gallon a week.

One of the largest family dairy operation in my area just stopped all production not long ago.  I had heard they had spent a lot on the technology side of milking that just didn't pay off in the end.

I remember one of my first "chores" was to clean the bulk tank at my neighbors.  I was around 5.  My dad drove milk truck for a local cheese company for 5 years and he said that the as a driver he was required to clean it.....but it was all automatic at the farms where he picked up just had to basically push a button once he loaded.

When "dairy" smell gets in something its hard to get it out.   House we lived in prior to our current we bought from a couple than ran a dairy transport company.   They both drove trucks and picked up milk at local farms 7 days a week.   There was a closet coming in from the garage where they put their coats in.   We repainted it 3 times and still never got the dairy smell out of it in the 6 years we lived there.
