We used to hit whatever National Forest that got 6" or more first. Jefferson Notch, Bear Notch or Sandwich Notch. And I travelled to Pittsfield, MA one year when they had snow when northern New England had nothing.

That’s one thing I’ll miss about my old house it was right on the rail trail as soon as there was decent snow you could get a rip in. One year we got 3 feet on Halloween and went for a rip. Traveled up north for opening day a few times but it usually isn’t worth the drive but was always fun to get out.
