Trail work

Ran into a local club guy when I was out riding on Friday. They are working on one last stretch of cleanup from the heavy snow but only can groom some of the trails since there is still only 3" of ice in places in the swamps.

Ugh - I hate to even think what a few of our bluff side / hill road trails are going to look like when we get out there in the coming weeks.  We had a fair share of downed trees last spring when we pulled signs so I can only imagine what's waiting for us when we get back out there to prepare for the season.  We have 2 bridges to re-deck, too.  The joys of club volunteers!! LOL   At least the mowing work has been done and some cleanup already started.

Just saw the Facebook pics from the club ... you guys had some serious work with downed trees, based a few of those pics!  We were supposed to go out this past weekend but the bridge we're due to work on is inaccessible due to corn still being in the field and the 3"+ of rain we got late last week.  Now we wait - and try to get through deer season and a late project.

That was West and South of Three Lakes they had a mess.  We're North East and it wasn't that bad compared to other years.

Around home we also have a bridge that needs some work that we're going to patch up and get a year or so before we have to redeck it.

I’m down to one bridge repair (seen better days but is solid underneath), one section of signs to update (won’t be putting signs in until thanksgiving weekend) and then the eradication of a family of beavers - hiring a guy to do that who works for the city.

All on one guys field this weekend - bridge repaired, 250 yards of rope fencing around the old alfalfa and about 200 more yards around the end of a first year alfalfa, hopefully keep corner cutters on trail…

At least we had a big crew and got it all done by noon Saturday!

Snuck out of work early today to get some trail work done before weather changes.

wind was crazy this afternoon!!

made it tough to pound stakes!!

10 miles worth today.

good Millville to Elgin!

Nice!  And, thank you!! :bc:

We've got a bridge we're going to try and work on tomorrow afternoon, but then it's gonna have to wait until second season is done.  This wind has all of us nervous as to what's waiting for us on the hill road trails when we go out for trail clean up and marking the following weekend.

We were a bit worried in small wooded section we go through about branches coming down.wind was really howling but all was good.rest of that trail is open field running.luckily most everything that was plowed was knocked down smooth or was nice flat bean fields.going to be able to really whip her up through there this year!!I will hit some roadside stuff next few days but otherwise done till after hunting season.
