I sent a set of shocks to Mike Carver for a revalve/upgrade and am making a list of shit I want/need on the shelf now for spares or otherwise, before winter rolls in and there's another parts shortage.

I think I'm done testing and changing different gear ratios for the season after doing one more yesterday...

anyone ever tried Klotz chain case lube? I hadn't until yesterday... that'll be a sticky f'ng mess the next time I pull the cover.

Just a refresh bleed. Hopefully the pads are still straight… I put a whole new caliper on the ‘18 last summer so I have that if needed.

3/16 clear hose, bottle of DOT 3 or 4, a clear bottle and see what comes out... mine usually looks like dehydration urine.

Yup - not sure of the exact miles on this one this season, but somewhere north of 3500.

Not many.

-Stabilizer bar tabs off the frame. It was either tear down and weld or replace. Factory said to replace service frame.

-One of those fancy new clutches decided to blow up the fixed sheave. Not bad, clutch, ring gear, TCL, and starter assembly. Didn't even take out the belly pan.

-Fairly new 800 motor decided to start blowing coolant. Haven't pulled the head yet. Maybe get lucky and it's just gaskets. Yeah right.

-New long block at 4,300 dings on the mile counter.

We have five sleds. If you do the math, that leaves one energizer bunny that keeps running. The bunny sled is a basic '22 800. Each trip, that sled gets unloaded and parked off to the side because it's "only a backup". Seems like every trip the crusty bugger gets the snow dusted off and keeps getting miles. Dang thing passed 1 and four zeros this week. Every bit has been old lady miles. Four primaries and I think seven sets of weights. I bet it's thrown apart 20+ of those crappy idler wheels. We would have been big dollars ahead by simply switching to the Soucy wheels and good bearings from the beginning.

Funny thing about that sled. Last time I looked, it had 10,220 miles and 255.7 hours. It has to be getting tired. I wish Cat would buy the thing back and do a deep analysis of all the components. Anything that has held together should be a mandatory component on every single machine made in the future.

So worth the price.

Pulled my sled on blocks as there is probably 2 inches of water in my garage now. Don’t need it to free sold when the temp drops

him and his damn moat. He is going on vacation so I should go grab it but I have no way to move it. I will see if can get one from moose. Once I bust the drive way loose I will be able to drain the garage.

Driveshaft bearing failure, good thing I had spare parts. The inner race broke into two pieces and devalued my driveshaft a little.

I picked up a used one a couple of years ago, at the time I waffled on buying it, glad I did.

I will probably weld up the old driveshaft and return on the lathe for the spare.

Almost lucky…

A buddy was doing maintenance on his Boost today and when he popped the mount and cover off, the bearing slid off all on its own.

Popped the seal, and the inner race was broken! That’s lucky!!

Went and looked at a summer project snowmobile.

Anything I should watch out for on Rush 600's?

What is it with the 509 retards? I counted 15 509 stickers on one sled and the guy was like my age.

They like trash goggles I guess. I can’t remember if it was the rush or the later axys rush but there was an update for the baler frame on of them. The bushings would get all wallored out and snap the bolts off.

I think for $800 runs well but doesn't move I'm going to roll the dice on it.

Should be decent for that price. Friend of my put like 15,000 miles on one of those things. Probably needs the usual shock/clutch rebuilds, and all the bearings replaced and it will be good for another 100,000 miles
