Anyone else getting parts, looking at their new sled or prepping their machines yet?

  • Gold Donating Member

I sent a set of shocks to Mike Carver for a revalve/upgrade and am making a list of shit I want/need on the shelf now for spares or otherwise, before winter rolls in and there's another parts shortage.

Anyone actually get their new 2022 sled(s) yet?

I think he may have bought a couple of old dealers inventory. I've paid him before and he completely forgets and I have to call him weeks later to remind him. One time he didn't include a bunch of stuff that was for my buddy and the guy seemed surprised it was part of the deal and I have to show him screenshots. The worst part is simply having to talk on the phone with the guy, he's just like in the videos and my energy doesn't exactly match well with that

O dear lord. On the plus side they upgraded my area to a winter storm warning now for 4-8 inches of snow so looking possible for a quick shake down cruise. Going to get significantly more snow west of me about 60 miles

Last I saw my area was 5-10". Hopefully it sticks around I haven't looked at the forecast beyond this storm but it's fun either way. Good start to winter

Last year it was kinda the same thing. We got hit with a ton of snow on thanksgiving. It won’t be near what last year was but it is supposed to be cold next week with a little bit of snow daily.

Great deal here

Getting close to first startup today.

The 850 is ready to roll. The catalyst is still in a box as I am too lazy to fix the damn thing. 25 miles west of me has 2 feet of snow with another storm coming tomorrow. I told dad to hook up the trailer and pick me up with his credit card on Monday for opening day. I might go for a rip Sunday night when hunting ends depending on the this next storm. There is 6 inches at my house but the snow is hit or miss depending on where you are.

Worked on the project Jag till 3am and made decent progress. Then worked on the stupid Yamaha exciter for a couple hours and still can't get it to run. It runs on one cylinder and the other cylinder gets a wet plug. Stupid freaking Yamahas this thing sucks to work on and get carbs out.

That Arctic Monkey guy is going all out this year. Tons more posts then I'm used to seeing.

If they are like Phazer carbs, there will be 3 ports on the bottom and only 2 plugs. Lots of sleds get those plugs put in the wrong spot or they are cracked.

I'd maybe start there.

Would any of that cause it to dump fuel? Not sure what you mean by ports and plugs. There was some kind of weird electrical wires going to each carb assuming for throttle safety and fuel hose going to each bowl which i thought was different. And I saw a black rubber cap or plug on top of each carb but they looked factory to me. It'd be a lot easier if I could get the damn air box out but I would need to remove the damn fairing trim stuff for the windshield or whatever and it seems like such a cluster to remove that just to then get at the air box. Why do they make these Yamahas so damn hard to work on. It has strong spark but plug also gets wet immediately. I tried to hook up an external feed line to that carb and check the float needle but my fuel hose was slightly too big and just leaked out at the fitting so I have to try that again without another hose it was after 5am at this point and I was annoyed with the dumb thing I just want to get it running so I can rip it for 20 minutes and then put it for sale but I might just have to sell it non running and bend over.

I think it's either overflowing from the float needle or has weak compression on that hole. But maybe there's more to these carbs that I don't know.

My carbs are totally different than those. Mine are individual and more like a standard mikuni vm round slide, although a little different than the cat vm's I'm used to.

Is there a way to get that air box out? It looked like his was out in his video but the trim above it was all still in place

You’re a fucking moron! Phazers have been around since the 80’s and you’ve never worked on their carbs with the rubber plugs? Just sell it. You’re too fucking stupid to fix it as you can’t even figure out how to remove the air box.

It's not a phazer. But do you want to buy it? Oh wait nevermind 👍🏻

Dumb fuck, a Yamaha Exciter is the same body work as a Phazer. If it’s a 70’s Exciter then you need to set the tools down before you hurt yourself. Sell it to someone who’s not going to fuck it up.

Coming down hard. Going riding tomorrow. People are out now that hunting ended at dark. 8 inches at my house and well over a foot 20 ish minutes west of me

Sold my 3 place drive on drive off with ramps open trailer a couple weeks ago. Went to Norman County.

Realized I f-ed up and went out and bought a 2 place tilt bed today.

Still $2100 ahead, I guess.

All kinds of hood fitment issues that I've been working through, but working through them. I'm not doing a project sled for a long while after this is done. Hopefully have it out next weekend for some test riding.

I am not even sure what my dad’s trailer is. It’s an enclosed car hauler. You could probably get 3 sleds in it. The hotel west of me 25 miles posted they have 2 1/2 feet now and still snowing. I could ride from my house but why dick with going through town on the first ride?

get that heap of shit bolted together so I can come riding without actually dragging a sled up there... I'll even buy the sticker! lol

That pile will not see snow this season or probably never.

No snow here

I've been resisting the urge.

Roasted a belt in about 80 miles. When it had about 20 miles on it, I held wide open on a rail grade the groomer packed. Will pull to the low 100s quickly. I wonder how much better it will run after brake it is done. the cobra track makes a huge difference in the fresh snow vs the shit saw the catalyst is using. The catalyst is similar to the Polaris after riding it a while. The catalyst steers a little bit better and has better wind protection but other than that there’s not a big difference between the two. I also like having a coupled skid again. Have 113 miles on it now. Supposed to get more snow on Wednesday so I will go out again then. Snow depths varied between 3 feet to 8 inches. Most of the miles were on unplowed fire roads. A lot of them were the first ones down.

The 9” Stud Boy Deuce I run are the same price at DK as they were last year. They did jump the year before about 20% from $90 to $109.

The pattern emerges. Wreck shit and have dad pay for it. Fucking hack! That Poo will be toast by the new year!

Yep! thumb Not smart to go ripping around with only 3-8” of fresh snow and no base. Not a big surprise to see why the Catalyst fell apart from hitting stuff and abuse.

Apparently for some living in the Midwest, they have to ride immediately, no matter what, as the snow melts so fast. lol2
