I sent a set of shocks to Mike Carver for a revalve/upgrade and am making a list of shit I want/need on the shelf now for spares or otherwise, before winter rolls in and there's another parts shortage.

For many years my 00 and the 01 440's we had were my favorite sleds and the 00 I had probably still is. Rode the hell out of them in high school.

That guy doesn't seem reputable. He is doing alot of name calling of a pretty respected person that is in the hall of fame, and he's also lying about things he didn't actually say. I don't think Jim ever said they cut out the serial number and then hand stamped it. He researched and explained about the serial number. This aggressive name caller guy didn't give any explanation. He basically just said trust me bro, I'll tell you about it after you buy it. Ok?? Jim actually goes into exact detail about his research and puts it out there for the world to see, review, critique. That auction sled has no serial number at all, the serial number is the official documentation for the vehicle at these races. Jim has the documents that show his serial number is the serial number that won these dorky fabled NASCAR turn left races and for collector purposes that's what really matters imo.

If he had real proof he wouldn't need to get emotional and name call like a troll he could just win by posting the facts.

No hes referring to Larry Preston that wrote the Starfire Kids book that I linked the Facebook post from. The back and forth name calling is fairly childish but that doesn't change the fact that Larry has a pretty good amount of knowledge on Polaris race machines.

In most instances yes. There was so many variables in manufacturing back then that its impossible to know for sure what exactly was done. Im just giving my .02.

one card JD has in the real deal debate is... the as raced at ER WC serial numbers for the tunnel and the engine. so whichever sled has those two components is closest. the magnesium bulkhead is the wild card. these were just old race sleds back in the day which were used, changed and used some more. being realistic, how many out there left are truly as raced? there's some in the St Germain museum, but not many. TH68's is there covered in Dakota dirt and dust, the GD Soo sled Herf and Selby won on but I believe it was washed and prettied up, but stuff from the 70s / 80s / 90s far and few between.

Correct. Im not debating any of that. Lots of stuff was crashed and put back together with new parts and raced again. Hell I picked up a 72 Cheetah that had a KK 650 serial tag on it. Who knows why that was there. All I was really saying is not to discredit Larry or Jim.

Dimmerman posted his sled for sale today. I think he's over the Polaris BS

I guess it sold already, he said in seconds. I wonder if it's the person who bought the 104k sled. If it was me I'd want that tunnel.

Na Polaris dan is a backwoods legend just because he had a Polaris shirt on from god knows when and drove a truck with more holes in it than a piece of Swiss cheese. He will tell you if that sled is real or not with his line of bullshit lol.

If they'd have been willing to ship it, I'd have considered buying it simply as a conversation piece.

the one in the auction was a re-creation... I have the original one here but it's missing the liner and half the chin strap.
